Intro: What Is Swagbucks About?
Type: Get-paid-to (GPT) site
Membership Price: FREE to join
My Rating: 3.5 out of 5
Let me introduce you to Swagbucks… basically it’s a rewards site founded in 2008 by two guys named Josef Gorowitz and Scott Dudelson. It’s headquarters is based in Los Angeles, California. It’s really popular with over 13 million members and it has paid out over $260 million to it’s members.
What Is a Rewards Site?
Also known as a GPT (get-paid-to) site, you go on the site and perform various simple tasks like taking surveys, watching videos, searching the web, etc. and by doing so you will be rewarded with a digital currency which they call “swagbucks,” think of it as points.
Once you’ve accumulated a certain amount of swagbucks (points), you can then cash out and turn it into real prizes like Amazon gift cards and even real cash via PayPal.
There are a bunch of ways for you to earn swag bucks such as using the search engines, playing games, taking surveys, watching videos, and much more.
How Much Are Swagbucks (Points) Worth?
Each time you complete a task you will be rewarded with swagbucks. So how much are they worth? Each swagbuck is worth roughly around 1 penny in US currency.
How Do You Earn Swagbucks?
$5 Sign Up Bonus:
Currently Swagbucks is giving you a free $5 just for joining. You can get this bonus merely by signing up then confirming your email. If you’re ready to join now you can sign up HERE.
Searching The Web:
You download their search engine toolbar, and instead of going to google, yahoo, bing, or wherever you normally go to search for things, you use the search engine toolbar instead. If you’re someone who use the search engines a lot on a daily basis, you can earn around 10-50 points per day.
Surveys are a great way to earn points. Some surveys can take 20-30 minutes to complete and will reward you with a few hundred points after you complete them. The tricky part though is that you need to qualify for the survey, and surveys that pay out a lot of points are difficult to qualify for. Whether you qualify for it or not depends on your profile, location, and a bunch of other factors.
If you’re like me and you love watching random things on the internet, you will like this. You can earn points by watching videos in various categories such as News, Food, Health, Music…etc and for every 10 videos that you watch you will earn about 3 points. The bad news is that they will only let you earn a maximum of 150 swagbucks per day. So there goes the dream of watching movies all day for a living.
Earning Cash Back:
Cash back is basically where you shop online and receive a portion of the money you spent back to you. Swagbucks have a bunch of different stores that you can choose to shop from, and if you spend lets say $50 at Amazon, you can earn about 150 swag bucks after you’ve made your purchase, which translate to about 3% cash back. But you have to shop by going to the Amazon store from the link Swagbucks provides or it won’t track properly.
Who doesn’t love the idea of getting paid to play video games online? You can with swag bucks. Unfortunately they only allow you to earn a maximum of 10 swagbucks per day, which is like 10 cents.
Swagbucks gives you a referral link you can send to your friends and other people you know. If they join through your link and earn swag bucks, you will receive 10% commission.
To summarize, you can earn swag bucks by shopping, searching, watching videos, playing games, answering surveys, and referring other people.
Turning Swagbucks/Points Into Cash:
Once you have accumulated a certain amount of Swagbucks/points you can then redeem them in the form of either gift cards or Paypal.
The minimum payout threshold is pretty low, the exact amount varies depending on what you redeem them for:
- Amazon gift cards start at a minimum of 300 swagbucks ($3 equivalent,)
- Other gift cards like Esso and Starbucks start at 1000 swagbucks ($10 equivalent.)
- There are many gift cards to choose from, I recommend you sign up to Swagbucks to check out the full list of reward options.
- Paypal starts at a minimum of 2500 Swagbucks ($25 equivalent.)
Final Verdict: Is Swagbucks a Scam?
Swagbucks is definitely not a scam, they are a legit GPT website that allows their users to earn a bit of extra money on the internet. They’ve been around for many years, have a good reputation, and are known to actually pay their users their earnings.
With that being said, is Swagbucks worth your time? Maybe, depending on what your goals are. If you’re looking to make a few quick bucks here and there, then Swagbucks is definitely a legit way to do so.
