TestSpin is a website where you can take surveys to earn money. They claim that you can earn up to $600 in free gift cards from Amazon.com just by answering surveys, testing products, music, videos, websites, and more.
What concerns me is the hype, earning $600 seems a bit unrealistic because generally survey sites are very low paying things. I wanted to review TestSpin to see if they’re a scam or legit way to earn money online.
In this TestSpin review I’ll go over the good, the bad, and the ugly so you’ll know exactly what you’re getting yourself into by joining them. Let’s get started!
You can also check out my Favorite “Get-Paid-To” Sites which are sites that also pay you to take surveys, but there are other ways to earn as well such as by completing marketing offers, watching videos, playing games, doing quizzes, and much more.
Type: Paid surveys, focus groups, product testing

What Is TestSpin?
TestSpin is a market research website that’s been around since 2000, they are based in Calabasas, California, USA and have over 11 million members from all over the world.
They give their members opportunities to earn money online by answering surveys, joining focus groups, test products, and a bunch of other stuff. The purpose for this is to gather data for market research for media outlets and companies so they can improve existing and future products and services.
People from all over the world can join and registration is FREE.
To get started just fill out the registration form with some basic personal info like your name, email, income, education, whether you own a car or not, and a few other things. This info allows them to match you with the right surveys.
From there you’re ready to start earning. TestSpin pays you with a points system, but don’t worry these points can be later redeemed for real cash rewards. For your reference 1,000 points = $1.00 USD.
How To Earn At TestSpin?
Taking Online Surveys
Once you’ve registered you can log in to check your member’s area for any available surveys for you to take. You may also be emailed when new opportunities become available.
The surveys at TestSpin typically pay around $1 to $2 and take around 15 to 20 minutes to complete. There are also higher paying surveys geared towards IT and business professionals, these ones pay $3 to $4 each.
Before the actual survey begins you’ll have to answer a few screening questions which is used to determine if you fit the criteria of what the survey creator is looking for. Most of the time you’ll see a message of something like:
“Unfortunately you did not qualify for this survey”
How often you qualify depends on your demographics and how you filled out your profile, but if you’re like most people it will take you many many tries to qualify for one. Many people say that taking surveys are a complete waste of time, and I agree!
If you do get lucky and qualify for the survey and complete it you will have to wait until the survey closes to see your earnings credited to your account. This can take about 30 days!
Focus Groups / Product Testing
In addition to paid surveys there are other opportunities to earn on TestSpin including invitations to join focus groups to test products, videos, websites, music, and more.
These opportunities pay up to $30 for your participation! Unfortunately just like the surveys you’ll need to qualify to do them, so it’s not exactly a reliable source of income as there’s no guarantee how many, if any, opportunities you’ll receive.
So how much exactly are TestSpin members earning? Well the short answer is… not much. Most people definitely do not earn anywhere near the $600 as advertised.
How much you earn depends on how you filled out your profile and how often you qualify for surveys and other opportunities. But generally speaking it takes most people months and months to reach the $10 minimum payout.
I really do not recommend survey sites like TestSpin because there’s very little earning opportunities and everything requires you to qualify first to earn. You should check out my Favorite “Get-Paid-To” Sites instead which offers paid tasks where there’s no qualification procedures so you are guaranteed to earn something for your time.
How Does TestSpin Pay You?
Once you’ve earned a minimum of 10,000 points (equivalent of $10 USD) you can request a payout via PayPal, gift cards, or exchanging your points for free merchandise from Amazon.com such as books, CDs, tools, kitchen products, and much more.
- Free to join
- Membership opened internationally
- Good payment options including PayPal
- Hard to qualify for earning opportunities
- Takes a long time to accrue enough earnings for the $10 payout
- Many members complain about bad customer service
- TestSpin Inc. currently holds a D- rating on the Better Business Bureau website
- Low income potential
Is TestSpin a Scam?
TestSpin is not a scam, but they are not a very good website for making extra income online. Surveys and focus groups are hard to qualify for, for most people it means wasting a lot of time on those screening questions only to be told you don’t qualify over and over. Even when you do qualify for surveys you’ll have to wait up to 30 days for your earnings to credit your account.
Another thing is that TestSpin’s customer service seems to be non-existent, many members complain about emailing support and never receiving any helpful responses. So it appears that you’re on your own if you run into any trouble during payout.
I recommend you check out my Favorite “Get-Paid-To” Sites instead which are sites that I’ve personally used to make extra online income, they’ve all paid me before so I know they’re legit and can be trusted. These sites won’t make you rich, but they’re a fun way to generate some extra income online.
