Scarlet Clicks Review – Scam Or Get Paid To Click Banners?

get paid to click ads

Looking for an easy way to make extra online income? Scarlet Clicks is a PTC or “paid-to-click” website that’s been around since 2009, it works exactly like their name implies, you get paid to click and view advertisement banners.

Scarlet Clicks is not a scam, they do pay you to click banners but I think there are better options for extra income. The trouble is each banner you click only pays around $0.001, look again, that’s not a penny that’s 1/10th of a penny! You’ll have to view each ad for about 20 seconds before you get credited, that’s $0.18 an hour!

In this Scarlet Clicks review I’ll go over what they’re all about, some things I dislike about them, and why PTC sites are a waste of time.

Scarlet Clicks Review

Name: Scarlet Clicks
Type: Paid to click
Membership Price: Free + upsells
My Rating: 2.1 out of 5

earn clicking ads doing offers referring others

I gave Scarlet Clicks a rating of 2.1 out of 5, even though clicking ads to earn money is an easy task you just can’t make more than a few nickels an hour, why would you want to waste your time doing that? I also don’t like that they don’t pay with Paypal which has become the golden standard for online payments.

They’re free to join but free accounts are very limited and you won’t earn much unless you upgrade to a paid account which I don’t recommend you doing and I’ll explain why later on.

I prefer to do offers on “get-paid-to” sites like Swagbucks instead, these are where you sign up to stuff to earn and they pay a lot more. Well, you still won’t get rich doing them, but typically they pay $0.25 to $2 and the money/time ratio isn’t too bad.

How Does Scarlet Clicks Work?

Clicking Ads

This is the main way to earn on Scarlet Clicks. In the “View Ads” section you’ll find a page of different ads you can click. After you click them it will open up a new tab where the ad shows, you’ll have to view it for about 10-20 seconds afterwards you have to solve a CAPTCHA type thing before being credited.

As previously mentioned each ad only pays about $0.001, some pay even less at $0.0005! That’s 1/10 of a penny and 1/20 of a penny respectively, if this is not a waste of time I don’t know what is.

click to win up to $1

This is a game you can play everyday for a chance to win a measly $1. In this section you’ll find a large square with 560 total grids within it. You’ll have to click on a grid which opens up an ad you’ll need to view for about 10 seconds, then you’ll be told if you won or not. You’ll have 20 chances per day.

Let’s do a little math here.. so 20 chances per day / 560 squares = 0.035 = 3.5% chance of winning $1 per day by viewing 20 ads that are 10 seconds each, so 3.33 minutes.

If my math is correct that means for every 95 minutes you spend doing this you’ll earn $1, but you’ll have to factor in loading time for the ad as well as time for you to close the window and open up a new grid. In reality you’re probably looking at an hourly rate of $0.25-$0.50 doing this.

Referring Others

Scarlet Clicks give you a unique referral link as well as banners to promote others to join. As a standard member you’ll earn 40% of your referrals’ click earnings. There is a way to earn more from referrals, but it requires upgrading your account by paying a monthly fee, I highly do not recommend this.

How To Earn More…

Scarlet Clicks offer rented referrals and account upgrades for a chance to earn more, but these things cost money and you won’t be guaranteed to make that money back, so I highly advise you against spending money. Below I’ll explain more on how they work:

Renting Referrals (Monthly)

The idea of renting referrals sound good, you pay to get referrals so you can get paid for their clicks, so you’re earning money from other people’s work. But by renting referrals you’re basically gambling, there is no guarantee that your rented referrals are going to be active. So how much do rented referrals cost?

Here’s a quick breakdown:

  • 5 referrals – $0.75
  • 10 referrals – $1.50
  • 20 referrals – $3.00
  • 50 referrals – $7.50
  • 75 referrals – $11.25
  • 100 referrals – $15.00
  • 200 referrals – $30.00

Note: As a standard member you’ll earn 40% of your referral’s ad clicks

Imagine if you rented 200 referrals for $30 and your referrals aren’t very active and you only earn by $10 of what you spend, then you’ll have lost $20! That’s what it’s a gamble and I don’t recommend you pay for referrals.

Upgrading Account

Scarlet Clicks have many membership levels which can increase your earnings from referrals and also give you faster payouts. I have highlighted each level and their benefits below:

  • Standard (Free) – Earn 40% of referrals’ clicks, max of 200 rented referrals, payout takes up to 7 days
  • Monthly Silver $5 – Earn 100% of referrals’ clicks, everything else same as Standard
  • Monthly Gold $10 – Same as Silver except max rented referrals goes up to 500
  • Monthly Gold Plus $30 – Same as Gold except max rented referrals goes up to 3000 and payout only takes up to 5 days

You’ll also have the option to opt to pay yearly instead of monthly for a discounted price, but that’s even more of a gamble because you risk losing even more money if your referrals don’t make you back what you paid. Overall paying for referrals and membership upgrades is a bad idea…

How Does Scarlet Clicks Pay You?

Currently you can get paid with Skrill, Neteller, Solidtrustpay, Payeer, Perfect Money and Bitcoin. With the exception of Bitcoin ($10 minimum threshold) all these withdrawal options only have a minimum threshold of only $2. This should be attainable within a few days even with such low paying clicks. After requesting a payout you should receive it within 7 days, or 5 days if you’re a Gold Plus member.

The Good

  • A basic standard account is free
  • Clicking ads is easy and require no skill whatsoever, even your dog can do it
  • Minimum payout is only $2
  • Many electronic payment methods

The Bad

  • Lots of upsells for paid referrals and account upgrades
  • At $0.001 per click on average, you can’t expect to make more than about $0.25 per hour
  • Not a serious income opportunity
  • No paypal payments offered

Is Scarlet Clicks a Scam?

They are not a scam, but you’ll be making about $0.25 per hour which is less than what sweatshop workers make in China. If you’re just doing this for fun then that’s fine and dandy, but if you’re serious about making extra cash to put in your bank then you’re better off joining these top “get-paid-to” sites instead where there’s better ways to earn.

But either way these are all only extra income opportunities, you won’t make more than $50-$100 per month doing them. They are in for business children or teenager and those who want to entertain themselves to work on line not with the motive to earn a living. Those who want to earn a good living should not venture into it. Because it will become a waste of time and energy. That is my little advice please. Thanks.

Yeah I was once one of those people who actually tried to do this for a full time income, took me a while to realize that it wasn’t gonna happen. All that time and effort spent clicking for fraction of a penny is wasted, hours of your life down the drain in return for scrap change, not a good deal.

    Dear Kent,

Thanks a lot for the thorough and comprehensive review post.

    To share my own experience…

Few years before I was working on many ptc sites like… Neobux, Clixsense, GPT planet, Wordlinx, Goldenclix, Silverclix, probux (Closed), Clixten (closed), Ojooo, Donkeys mail etc., To be honest I worked on 20+ ptc sites daily and ScarletClicks is one among them.

Based on my experience ScarletClicks is not a scam and I do have received one payment from them.

At the moment I was not working on any PTC sites because its not worth the time we invest in. Although I worked for 6+ hours a day with 20+ sites its really hard to make $1-$2 per day. So as you mentioned rightly if we are serious of some additional cash PTC sites are not the best options.

    Much Success!

Hey Paul, thanks for sharing your experience. Yeah it doesn’t matter if you joined 20+ PTC sites, your hourly rate remains low. It’s not possible to make anymore than chump change, so my advice is to just do this for fun and not depend on it for a serious source of income.

I was member of Scarlet Clicks about 7 years. But when I requested a bigger payout, got immediately account suspension. I think it’s already a scam.

    • Author - Kent Leung says:

Hey Rimas, sorry to hear you had a bad experience. Did they give you a reason for the suspension? did you email them for an explanation?
