What Is Younique?

Younique is a Utah-based MLM (multi-level marketing) company that sells women’s cosmetic products such as makeup, skin care creams, face brushes, lashes, and much more. They also offer an income opportunity where you can sign up as a distributor and earn money promoting and selling their products as well as recruiting others to do the same.

This company start up back in September 2012 by Derek Maxfield and Melanie Huscroft who are brother and sister. They started Younique with a mission to “uplift, empower, and validate women across the globe.”

Although they currently hold an A+ rating on the Better Business Bureau website which is a good sign they’re somewhat legit, but it doesn’t mean they’re a good opportunity to earn money.

In this Younique review I’ll be mostly covering how their business opportunity works and whether it’s worth your time and money. But before I get into that I want to show you exactly what products they’re selling.

Younique Products

Younique sells products in the skincare, makeup, and beauty niche. Their products are aimed at mostly women (and some metro-sexual men perhaps), here are just a few examples of their products:

  • Makeup – Lashes, eyeliner, eye brushes, lipstick, lip gloss, foundation, concealer, face brushes, face sets, and more.
  • Skincare – Cleansers, masks, moisturizers, toners, serums
  • Tools – Eye brushes, lip brushes, face brushes, sponges, applicators, and more.
  • Fragrance – Different bottles of perfume, rollerballs, fragrance sets
  • Collection Sets – Lash sets, eye sets, face sets, lip sets, brush sets

Become a Younique Distributor

If you want to earn an income with Younique you can sign up to become a distributor and become eligible to receive commissions by promoting and selling these products.

Becoming a Younique distributor doesn’t mean you’re employed by them in any way, you’re 100% on your own working for yourself, you are an independent business owner.

To get started you’ll have to purchase either the standard presenter kit ($99) or the premium presenter kit ($199). These kits contain product samples, marketing tools, a website to sell products to customers, virtual marketing training, and everything else you need to get your business started.

The difference between the two kits is that premium gives you more products.

The presenter kit is the only mandatory purchase you’ll need to make to get started. This means startup costs can be as low as $99 which isn’t bad considering many other MLMs out there also require that you buy expensive product packages on top of the starter kits.

Younique’s Compensation Plan

The two main ways for Younique distributors to earn an income is by selling products and recruiting others to do the same, but just like many other MLMs the big money is mostly made by recruiting. Their compensation plan can be a little difficult to understand so I’ll break it down for you below.

Here are the two main ways to earn income as a Younique distributor:

  1. Selling Products – This is the most obvious way to earn, selling products to retail customers and earning sales commissions. You can earn anywhere from 20% to 30% commissions depending on your rank level.
  2. Recruiting a Downline – There are a bunch of cash bonuses and commissions you can earn by recruiting new distributors to join under you. This is where most of the money from MLMs are made!

There are many different ranks and levels you can achieve, the higher your rank the more money you can earn. You move up ranks/levels by making more sales and recruiting more people.

Video Explanation Of Younique’s Compensation Plan:

Is Younique a Pyramid Scheme?

No, Younique is not a pyramid scheme, but I’m not surprised that many people would think they are! Younique offers a MLM business opportunity with a compensation plan that focuses a lot on recruiting which is a very similar to pyramid schemes, but they’re not the same and I’ll explain how they differ.

A pyramid scheme is a system where income is generated SOLELY through recruiting new members, there are no products to sell whatsoever. Pyramid schemes aren’t legit because those unlucky suckers at the bottom of the pyramid never makes any money. With MLMs you can earn by recruiting members, but you can also earn by selling products.

MLMs are considered legit business models but they’re pretty far from what I’d call a good way to make money. MLMs are nothing more than “pyramid schemes in disguise” in my opinion, it’s no wonder that some reports show that 99% of MLM businesses fail!

Is Younique a Scam?

I can’t call Younique a scam because they’re not a pyramid scheme, they’re a legit MLM company that lets you earn money by selling products as well as recruiting. But legit doesn’t mean good, it just means they’re not a scam.

As I told you before I’m not a fan of MLMs because there’s too much focus on recruiting which is similar to pyramid schemes, and most people fail to make any real money with this. To succeed at MLMs you need to be really good at selling and recruiting a big downline, and most people don’t have the networking and marketing skills to make that happen.

If you’re looking to start your own business and make full time income working for yourself there is a much easier way to do that. Below I’ll show you how I make 4-figures a month with a blogging business, and how anyone can follow in my footsteps.

How I Earn An Income Online

Basically I earn money online by blogging and writing product reviews just like this one, and when the time is appropriate I recommend certain products and services that I trust that can benefit my readers. When my recommendation results in a sale I earn a commission.

This is called Affiliate Marketing and is superior over MLMs for several reasons:

  • No need to sell or recruit, you only need to RECOMMEND products on your blog posts
  • Work from your laptop anywhere in the world
  • You can promote any product or service you wish, not just limited to the products of the MLM company you joined
  • Very little startup costs, in fact it’s FREE to start

I’ve been an affiliate marketer since December 2016 and this blog you’re on now was started by me back in September of 2017. My first blog didn’t do so well and I abandoned it, but I’ve been able to grow this one to the point of making $1000+ a month now which is pretty much a dream come true.

With the right training and mindset this can be replicated by anyone! If you’d like to learn how check out my link below where I’ll go over step-by-step on how this affiliate marketing blogging business works. I’ll also show you the same training platform that taught me everything I know today, check it out here:

You might be one of those people who’s skeptical about blogging, maybe you never knew it could be something you can do to make a full time income, but I’m telling you it’s absolutely possible!

The only downside is that it does take a while to see any income, you may have to blog 6 months to a year to start making money. But once you do make that money it’s easy peasy to maintain that income.

If you’re looking to make some quick income online then check out my Favorite “Get-Paid-To” Sites which are sites that offer various paid tasks like taking surveys, doing offers, trying new games, watching advertisements, and lots more. These sites can’t substitute your job, but they’re a fun way to create some extra cash while your blogging business is growing.

So that’s it for my Younique review. As usual let me know what you think about them below in the comments.
