Intro: What Is Survey Spot About?
This is another online survey site that pays you different rewards to give your opinion. It was established way back in the year 2000 and so it’s been around for almost 2 decades now. So, is Survey Spot legit? That’s what I’m going to go over in this post.
This survey site is owned by Survey Sampling International, unfortunately only USA residents over 18 years of age are allowed to join, but membership is totally free and all you need to start earning is a computer with internet and an email address. They’re pretty similar to another survey site called Survey Junkie.
How Do You Earn Money?
After signing up and filling out your profile, they will invite you to fill out a survey via email whenever there’s one available for people in your demographics.
You don’t earn cash directly, but instead points for every survey that you complete, and then you can then redeem your points for rewards such as gift cards, iTunes, air miles, and even cash via Paypal. Typically you’ll earn about 50-100 points per survey upon completion, and each point is worth $0.01 USD. Some surveys may pay up to a few hundred points, but those are rare.
Sweepstakes Quarterly Prize Draw
In addition to the points rewarded for completing a survey, you’ll also be entered into a sweepstakes quarterly prize draw where each quarter there will be a lucky winner who will take the $10,000 first prize. Your name will be entered once per survey you complete, so the more surveys you do the better chance you’ll have of winning.
Although online survey sites seem like easy money, it actually is one of the toughest way to earn money online, and let me explain why.
Problem #1: Not Enough Surveys Available
It would be great if you could just log in to your account to fill out as many surveys as you’re willing to, clicking buttons all day and earning a living, but it’s not that simple. The number of surveys you’re invited to take completely depends upon your demographics.
The reason businesses and organizations pay people for their opinions is so they can get a more accurate view of the personalities of the type of people who use their products and services so they can better adapt and improve them. Therefore they won’t just hand out surveys to anyone and everyone.
For example, if an insurance company has a survey for insurance buyers and you’re someone who doesn’t use insurance, why would they pay you to fill out a survey?
So the amount of surveys you’re invited to is heavily dependent upon the information you put down in your profile and how much the opinions from people in your demographics is needed. Personally in my experience, I typically get invited only once or twice a month, and most of the surveys I get invited to I end up not being qualified for, so that leads to problem #2.
Problem #2: Not Being Qualified For Surveys
Even if you’re invited to do a survey, you might not qualify for the actual paid survey.
In my experience what usually happens is that I’d start filling out a survey, then halfway through or even towards the end of it I’d be told that I don’t qualify for the survey. So now I wasted all this time, and for no pay. Are you kidding me?
Problem #3: High Payout Threshold
Most survey sites typically require you to make at least $10-$20 before they allow you to redeem your rewards for a cash payout. The problem is with so little surveys available and many of which you won’t qualify for, it can take an extremely long time to reach this threshold.
GrabPoints is an exception to this as their payout threshold is very low at only $3, but still you’ll still be doing a lot of work for a few pennies, don’t you think your time is more valuable than that?
Quick Tip: If you like the idea of doing surveys for cash, consider also checking out get-paid-to (GPT) sites like Swagbucks (read review) and Fusion Cash (read review) where you can also earn by watching videos, clicking ads, searching the web, and more.
How Do You Get Paid?
Once you’ve reached a minimum of 1000 points (worth $10) you can then redeem your points for cash via Paypal. You can also redeem your points for Amazon gift e-vouchers, iTune e-vouchers, or even airline miles.
Typically it can take up to 48 hours for you to receive your e-vouchers from the time you requested it. You can also request to have physical vouchers mailed to you, but that would take about 10 business days.
If you’d like to receive your earnings faster, consider checking out GrabPoints where Paypal payments start at only $3.
After researching Survey Spot, I have repeatedly found users who complain about their accounts getting frozen or shut down for seemingly no reason at all. Is this just greed and they just don’t want to pay out their members? Or is this because the users violated some kind of rule? It’s hard to know for sure, but with this many users complaining I think it’s something that cannot be ignored.
Here are some screen shots of the things I’m talking about:
Frozen/Closed Account For No Reason
This user did make some money for a while, and so Survey Spot do pay their members. But then all of a sudden one day their accounts just get frozen for no good reason. This is not acceptable.
Again, this person had made some money before in the past, but then suddenly one day logged in to find their account closed, and worst of all nobody even replied to him when he tried to find out why.
Same sort of thing as the other two, account frozen for no reason or explanation.
This user has been with them for a decade, and that’s how they treated him?
Even if they don’t close your account, it’s just one thing after another. Like I’ve said previously, with online survey sites there are a list of annoying issues such as not getting enough surveys and not qualifying for them.
Then let’s say you’re lucky enough to actually get to the payout threshold of 1000 points, and still you have to worry about whether they’ll just shut your account down for no reason? I mean, c’mon that is ridiculous. All that headache and nonsense for $10…?

Is Survey Spot Worth Your Time?
At most you can earn a few dollars for beer money, but for the amount of time and energy you’d have to spend it is clearly not worth it. There is a much better way to make money online which I’ll be discussing below.
And please understand that I’m not just talking about Survey Spot specifically, I mean most online paid survey sites out there have the same annoying issues: not having many surveys available, hard to qualify for surveys, low paying, high payout thresholds, payout issues, and bad customer service.
I highly do not recommend anyone join these online survey sites, they are a terrible way to make money online and your time is worth way more than a few pennies.
But if you’re still interested in joining survey sites, then I would recommend you to join the ones with the best reputation such as Swagbucks (read review) and Fusion Cash (read review.) Or you can check out the full list of my favorite sites to do paid surveys HERE.
A Better Way To Earn Money Online
For years I had searched everywhere online for a real way to make real money, and so I know that feeling of desperation when you can’t find anything good. There are so many scams or low paying gigs out there, why can’t there just be that one thing where you can make a full time living doing? Good news is that there is, and it’s something that anyone can get started for free.
I’ve been a member at a website called Wealthy Affiliate since December of 2016. It’s where I’d learned how to build a successful online business to generate a steady stream of passive income.
It’s a training platform that teaches you how to build a successful online business in a topic/niche that you have interest in.
Wealthy Affiliate’s training courses are designed with the complete beginner in mind, so everything is taught in a way that is very easy to understand, even if you don’t know anything about anything.
