Is Survey Junkie a Scam? My Honest No BS Review

get paid to take surveys

If you search for ways to make money online, surely you will come across online survey sites. These sites are advertised everywhere you look, and some are outright scams, but some are legit that allows you to make a bit of extra cash.

Some legit companies will actually pay you for your opinion on many different topics. Typically for a single survey you will get paid somewhere in the range of $0.25 to $2 for a survey that takes 10 to 30 minutes to complete.

Surveys can be done on any topic, anything from health and diet related to shoes and electronics. Some niches/topics are more high paying than others. And if you qualify for one of the high paying surveys, it’s quite possible to make a lot of money off of that one survey.

Although there are many legitimate survey sites out there that are honest and do actually pay you for your time and opinion, many of them are outright scams and you would only realize this when it’s time to get paid… and you don’t get paid. This is why I write these reviews, so hopefully it will educate people and prevent them from being scammed.

So is Survey Junkie a scam? Without further ado, let’s take a look at it and whether it’s legit or not.

get paid to take surveys and give your opinions

This is not an actual survey site where they give you surveys to take. They just direct you to popular survey sites, so Survey Junkie is actually just a middle man. You give them your email, and they point you to 3rd party survey sites.

Survey Junkie has been around since the early 2000’s and they’ve accumulated about 5 million sign ups. But don’t let it’s popularity fool you, just because it’s popular doesn’t mean it’s good. First, let’s take a look at how Survey Junkie works:

How Does Survey Junkie Work?

get paid to complete surveys online

First you sign up for an account which you can do so HERE.

Then they’ll ask you to give them your name, email, and to fill out your profile with some details about yourself.

You’ll have to fill out a questionnaire which will give Survey Junkie an idea of your demographics and what surveys you will qualify for.  Once you’re finished with the sign up process, your account will be credited with a 25 point sign up bonus.

You can then earn points by doing surveys, and the amount of points you can earn per survey varies from 20 to 200 points, depending on the length and difficulty of the survey.

How Much Are Survey Junkie Points Worth?

Each point is worth about 1 penny in US currency, so “not much” is the short answer. But if you can complete a lot of surveys then that definitely adds up.

How Much Money Can You Make?

At 200 points per survey you might be thinking at this point that you can make an easy $10 per day by doing just 5 surveys, not so fast..

Problem is you have to qualify for surveys to be able to complete them. And whether you qualify for them or not depends on your demographics and how many people in that demographic are competing with you for that survey.

Even worse, you’ll be halfway into a survey before they tell you that you don’t qualify. You may have already spent 15 minutes or longer working on it just to be told you don’t qualify, all that time completely wasted with no pay.

Other Ways To Earn

Did you know you can also make money doing surveys on get-paid-to (GPT) sites? On these sites you can also make money doing other things too like watching videos, playing games, visiting websites, clicking ads, and more.

The top 2 GPT sites I highly recommend are Swagbucks and Inbox Pays, they both give you a FREE $5 for joining and they pay easily and quickly.

How Do You Get Paid?

You’ll be paid via PayPal or gift card once you have accumulated at least 1,000 points, which is worth about $10.

If you’d like to get your money even faster, I suggest you check out Swagbucks HERE where you can redeem rewards starting as low as $3, and they also give you a $5 sign up bonus.

Common Survey Junkie User Complaints

1. Not Qualifying For Surveys You’ve Already Spent Lots of Time On.

As I have mentioned before, you could be well into a survey before they slap a “nope, you don’t qualify” on you, wasting your valuable time and energy. Or you’ll be paid very little for your time. Imagine filling out a 30 minute survey to only get paid 20 pennies for it.

2. Surveys Taking Longer To Complete Than Advertised

Let’s say you do a survey that they say will take about 10 minutes to complete, but it ends up taking you much longer, maybe even double the time advertised!

3. Account Suddenly Suspended

Some users claim that when you try to redeem your points for cash is when you run into problems, such as having their accounts suspended. But that’s usually because they violated some terms of service, such as having multiple accounts or giving false answers on surveys.

4. Very Low Pay

While you may earn up to 200 points per survey, don’t bank on being qualified for these higher paying surveys very often, cause you probably won’t. If you think you’re gonna make hundreds of dollars a week or even a month, you’ll probably be very disappointed.

5. Privacy and Spam Issues

After giving them your email and other personal information, they share this info with other online survey sites. This may lead to a lot of spam in your emails and you might even receive a lot of phone calls if they have your number.

Final Verdict – Is Survey Junkie a Scam?

legit take surveys for cash

I wouldn’t call Survey Junkie a scam, but qualifying for surveys is not easy and so you wouldn’t be able to make that much money just doing surveys. But if you try really hard you could probably make around $25 to $50 a month, some people claim they can make more but that’s not typical.

Thank you. I will be very cautious about online surveys and Survey Junkie. It’s true. There are companies out there that won’t tell you until you’ve spent a little too much time on the survey before you find out you don’t qualify. It has happened to me. Thanks so much.

    • Kent says:

In my experience with these survey sites this happens more often than not. At least 90% of the time I don’t qualify. Think of all that time unpaid and wasted. And those that I do qualify pay out pennies, ridiculous.
