earn rewards anywhere anytime

iPoll is a site that started up back in 2008 by two guys named Matt and Gregg. Recently this site has been acquired by a company called Survey Sampling International, LLC. Members of iPoll can earn money by taking surveys and a few other things like product testing and mystery shopping.

The main problem with iPoll and other similar surveys-based sites is that these earning opportunities depend on demographics, for example if you’re from the wrong area then you’ll get screened out of surveys and other opportunities quite often. I prefer sites like Swagbucks where you can earn doing tasks without needing to depend on being in the right demographics.

The TRUTH of How iPoll Works

How To Join iPoll?

You can only join if you’re from the USA, Canada, or UK. To join iPoll you’ll have to download their app, there’s no sign up form on their website itself. You’ll need an Android or iPhone device to download their app from either iTunes or Google Play, membership is free but you do have to be over 13. They give you a $5 bonus just for signing up, nice!

Ways To Earn Cash On iPoll

After you’ve created an account you can either log in through the app or through the iPoll website itself to begin taking surveys. You could also check your email where survey invitations will be sent. Surveys typically take around 5-15 minutes to complete and pay around $0.50 to $3. The toughest part about surveys is qualifying for them, often you’ll get screened out after a few questions.

If you’ve downloaded the app you may also be notified about other earning opportunities such as product testing and mystery shopping based on your geographic location. For the mystery shopping you’ll have to visit a store or to take photos of a product, the pay can be anywhere from $0.50 to $100, not bad eh?

Quick Tip – Other sites like Swagbucks, Inbox Pays, and Cash Crate also let you earn by watching videos, playing games, reading emails, doing offers, and much more.

Can You Earn a Full Time Income From iPoll?

No, if that’s possible then everybody would be doing it already. Survey sites like iPoll are only good for making about $25-$50 a month, just enough to support your beer drinking habits, that’s why they’re known as “beer money sites.”

If you’re looking to make way more than $25-$50 a month then I recommend you check out my FREE GUIDE HERE where I’ll show you the BEST way to make money online where a part time or full time online income is possible.

How Do You Get Paid?

iPoll payment methods include Paypal, Amazon.com gift cards, iTune gift cards, and redeeming your points to enter a quarterly $10,000 sweepstakes. If I were you I’d forget about the sweepstakes, it’s all luck and you’ll be throwing your money away!

The minimum payout with Paypal is $50, this is considered very high since you shouldn’t expect to make more than $25-ish monthly, so to reach this $50 could take months.

Another problem is the payout time, it can take up to 4 weeks to receive your payout once you reached the $50. Why it takes this long I have no clue. Other sites like Swagbucks pays you with Paypal once you reach just $25 in earnings, and you can get paid faster too.

iPoll Problems

You Need To Qualify To Earn

Just because you were invited to take a survey doesn’t mean you’ll qualify. It’s very frustrating to start working on a survey only to be told minutes later that you don’t qualify. That’s minutes of your time wasted for nothing! This apparently happens over and over again very often, this problem is not exclusive to iPoll, it happens with other surveys site too.

That’s why I prefer “get-paid-to” sites over surveys sites. These sites have surveys too, but they also provide a gazillion of other ways to earn where you don’t need to qualify.

High Payout Threshold

You’ll need to earn at least $50 before iPoll pays you. This will take at least a month or two before you’re able to reach that, and this leads to another problem which is that it can take up to 4 weeks for your payout to be delivered. Payments like Paypal and Amazon.com gift cards are digital, so I’m not sure why it need to take so long.

Accounts Terminated For No Reason

There is an alarming number of users complaining that they have encountered problems right before or after a payout. Apparently they found their accounts terminated for apparently no reason, the common reasons given is they’ve violated some terms of some kind such as having inconsistent answers on surveys.

Although it’s scary to think you could spend months accumulating $50 only to get scammed out of it, we don’t know the true reason why they got shut down. It’s possible they did violate some obvious rules such as don’t make up answers randomly on surveys, but we’ll never know. But with so many people complaining, it’s definitely a red flag.

Endless User Complaints

It seems like everywhere you look online there are negative reviews and complaints about iPoll. For such a popular surveys site they sure seem to piss off a lot of people. For example they currently hold an F rating on the Better Business Bureau website with tons of one-star reviews. In comparison to similar surveys sites like Swagbucks which has a rating of A- and has an average user rating of 4 stars out of 5.

Is iPoll a Scam Or Legit Way To Earn?

It appears that iPoll is a legit surveys site, despite the many complaints about terminated accounts most people do seem to be getting paid more often than not. But it does seem like there’s a reasonable chance of running into problems. In addition they’re not the best site for making extra income because of the frustration of having to qualify for everything before you can earn.

It’s a better idea to check out “get-paid-to” sites such as Swagbucks, Inbox Pays, and Cash Crate for more ways to earn, you can do surveys if you want but you can also earn by playing games, downloading apps, reading emails, signing up for websites, and more.

But all these kinds of sites are what I call supplemental income opportunities, you can earn chump change to pay for your coffee at the drive-thru or for some beer, not much else. Wow! It seems like a lot of work to make the $50 before you get paid 4 weeks later, effectively it could take nearly half a year to get your first months payment. Not something I would like to be doing at all, not even money for beer.

If you add to that the disappointing payout time frame and the number of complaints and account de-activations it is not a real effective way of making money. Businesses operating like that always seem to disappear.

Well, the legit ones don’t disappear. For example Swagbucks has been around since 2008 and have paid out over $260 million out to their members. They also have much lower payout thresholds, you can get paid with Paypal once you’ve earned just $25 and then they pay in a matter of days.

Hi, Kent. Good article. I like the headline “Get Paid to Watch Cooking Programs”. My wife and I like watching cooking programs. I never thought you could get paid for doing something you like! Then I read the rest of your article and realised I would never have the time to make this a worthwhile enterprise. “Beer Money” for some, a time stealer for me. Like yourself, I’m concentrating my valuable time on a long-time online business. Thanks, for highlighting the good and bad on these types of online jobs.

    • Author - Kent Leung says:

Hey there Paul, oh the headline banner is actually a Swagbucks banner, you do get paid a little cash to watch videos… mostly advertisements, but you get a little of everything. Some people just wants to make a few dollars a month and buy beer with it, other people like me and you wants something more and that’s what my #1 Recommendation is for, something that has a full time income potential and not just beer money.

I tried a lot of online survey sites. You can’t make a living out of them. Their all have tactics which will end you up with a maximum of tens of dollars a month and no more. It may be a big threshold for cashing, a cashing limit per month or high rate of screen out. This is not the way to make money, just small change. In the matter of fact, there is no easy way to make money. If there was, we were all be rich.

    • Author - Kent Leung says:

I agree with you that survey sites don’t let you learn that much, but that’s why these are called “Beer Money Sites.” They’re only to be used for pocket change to get a beer every month =)

But in my opinion there’s no reason to join survey sites for beer money sites, “get-paid-to” sites are a much better way to earn extra income. Sites like Swagbucks offer endless ways to earn, most of which you don’t need to qualify for, so the problem where you get screened out with surveys don’t apply.
