Intro: What Is InstaGC About?

InstaGC is a very popular get-paid-to (GPT) site and it’s been around since early 2011. If you’ve ever heard of the more popular Swagbucks, they’re the same kind of thing.

There are thousands of these GPT sites out there on the internet, some are a legit way to make some beer money, but others are outright scams. So is InstaGC a scam or one of the legit ones?

InstaGC is one of the biggest and most popular GPT sites with hundreds of thousands of members already, and many user reviews I found online says that they are legitimate and really do pay out to their members.

InstaGC rewards it’s members for doing things such as:

  • Completing surveys
  • Using the search engine
  • Watching videos
  • Playing games
  • Testing out apps
  • Signing up for websites
  • Referring other people

A lot of these tasks are what many people are already doing in their spare time, so why not join a GPT site and get paid while doing it?

How Does InstaGC Work? Ways To Earn:

front page

The way InstaGC works is that you earn points by doing tasks, each task will reward you with anything from one point to hundreds of points at a time depending on what task you complete.

Once you’ve collected enough points (100 points minimum, $1 USD equivalent) you can then turn those points into rewards such as gift cards and even receiving cash via various methods such as Paypal and Bitcoin.

So here I’m going to go over some of the various ways you can earn points:

1. Downloading Apps

You can earn points by downloading and installing apps to your mobile or tablet device.

2. Making Phone Calls

I hate talking on the phone personally so this is not my thing, but if you’re an extroverted talker then wouldn’t it be nice to have a little chatty chat while earning some points doing so?

Although at the time of me writing this post there were no offers for me in the calls section, maybe it’ll be different for you.

3. Earn Cash Back

When you shop through any of the available merchants at InstaGC, you are eligible to earn up to 5 points per dollar spent. This is also known as “cash back.”

Although you do have to spend money shopping so it’s not making money from nothing, but if you’re going to do a lot of online shopping anyway, then why not shop through InstaGC and earn some points?

4. Clicking & Browsing Sites

You earn points by visiting and browsing websites, you will be instructed to perform certain tasks while there such as performing a search while there. The good thing is that there’s always something available each day because the list of offers resets each day around midnight.

5. Completing Micro Tasks

You’ll receive points for doing small tasks such as filling out surveys, listening to audio, clicking buttons, and all sorts of easy things that even a 5 year old can do.

6. Signing Up For Things

You’ll be asked to sign up for free trials for services and programs. Some of them require you to give out your personal information such as credit card numbers, these ones will pay out more points as a result.

Most will start charging you after the free trial, so pay attention to when the free trial date ends and cancel your membership before then to avoid getting billed.

7. Watching Videos

The good news is you can earn points for just sitting there watching videos, who doesn’t want to do that? The bad news is you will not earn a lot.

8. Point Booster Codes

This is like bonus money because you just enter a code into a box and you get some extra free points!

How do you get booster codes? You can get them via other InstaGC members who have created them and have shared them somewhere else such as on their own website. Sometimes these codes can also be found on InstaGC’s social media platform. You’ll usually get about 5 points for each code.

9. Referring Friends

For every person who signs up under your referral link, you will earn 10 points, you will also earn 10% of their earnings.

This can really add up if you have a lot of friends or a way to refer lots of people. So imagine if you have 100 active referrals each making $50 a month, that’s $500 of passive income every month!

How Do You Get Paid?

When you complete tasks you don’t earn cash directly, you earn points, which can then be turned into cash. Each point you earn is worth exactly $0.01.

After you sign up, you’re automatically credited with a bonus 10 points, so they give you 10 cents just for signing up… it’s not much but hey, it’s free. Once you’ve reached a minimum of 100 points ($1.00) you can then turn those points into cash via various methods:

Gift Cards:

gift card cash out rewards

This is the easiest and quickest way to get your rewards. There are hundreds of different gift card options to choose from…, Apple Store, iTunes, Subway, Walmart, just to name a few. Once you’ve requested the gift card of your choice, it will be sent to your email and ready to be used immediately.

cash out reward methods paypal bitcoin

You can also redeem your points for cold hard cash via Paypal and prepaid Visa, as well as multiple crypto currency options such as Bitcoin, Litecoin, and Ethereum.

Donate To Charities:

If you’re just doing this for fun and don’t need the money, why not donate your earnings to a good cause? You’ll have the option of donating your points to a number of charities of your choice such as the American Cancer Society, RED, Clean Water Fund, and much more.

Quick Tip: If you like the idea of receiving your earnings ASAP then also consider checking out Swagbucks (read review) where you can redeem rewards starting at just $3.

The Good & The Bad

  • Free to join
  • Membership is open to anyone from any country
  • They give you 10 points ($0.10) just for signing up
  • They’ve been around since 2011 and is a well-trusted GPT site
  • There are many easy ways to earn points
  • Low payout minimum of only $1. Other GPT sites have thresholds as high as $50 before they allow you to cash out.
  • There are many options to redeem your points
  • Unlimited referrals

  • Most tasks pay very low amount of points
  • Sometimes you don’t get credited with the points you earned to your account right away, this delay is normal but can be annoying
  • Some tasks aren’t available
  • Some surveys tell you that you don’t qualify when you’re already halfway into it, wasting your time

Is InstaGC Worth It?

From my own research and experience I am 99.9% certain that InstaGC is a legitimate operation and is definitely not a scam. But whether it’s worth your time or not is a separate question.

You don’t really earn that much for the tasks that you do, and your hourly rate is going to be terrible. You can’t even make anywhere near minimum wage doing this, and so this is beer and cheeseburger money at best.

If you’d still like to join InstaGC, consider checking out Swagbucks (read review) and Inbox Pays (read review) instead, they’re both currently offering a $5 sign up bonus which is much more generous than InstaGC’s 10 point ($0.10) sign up bonus.

But none of these sites will pay you very much, if you like these get-paid-to sites then I suggest you sign up for a bunch of them to maximize your earning potential with them. But only sign up to the most reputable ones or else you risk wasting your time with sites that don’t pay. I recommend you check out my list of favorite legit paid-to sites that DO pay.

A Better Way To Make Money

Personally I don’t want to waste time making pennies on these GPT sites. I’m more interested in making the big bucks. I want to build a real online business that can generate the kind of income for me that will allow me to quit my 9 to 5 job.

I want to live a life where I can be my own boss, have more time to do the things I love, spend more time with my family, and not have to bust my ass for little pay while making someone else rich. Does this sound like you?

If it does, then I highly recommend you to learn more about what in my opinion is the BEST way to make money online: affiliate marketing.

Affiliate Marketing / Wealthy Affiliate

It’s a business model where you build a website promoting other people’s products or services, and you earn a commission whenever a person buys something as a result of your recommendation.

The website you’re on right now is an example of this. Just over a year ago I came across this business model and thought it was perfect for someone like me. I didn’t have any money, all I got was time and the desire to make money online from home.

Unlike a traditional brick and mortar business, the startup cost with an online affiliate marketing business is very low. All you need is to make a website, so that’s $12 a year for the domain name, and maybe another $10 for the monthly hosting fee. Great, that’s perfect for someone like me who has very little money!

But I had no idea how to get started. I didn’t  know how to build a website, attract an audience, write content, rank in the search engines, or anything else. I needed someone to teach me all of this.

I learned everything about affiliate marketing at Wealthy Affiliate, an online training platform with a huge community of members that teaches you how to build an affiliate marketing business from the ground up. The training there is targeted for the complete newbie, using simple laymen language that anyone can understand.

I’ve written a very detailed guide called “How To Make REAL Money Online” where I go over the business model of affiliate marketing, and how Wealthy Affiliate is the perfect training platform to learn to do it the right way.

In my guide I go over everything Wealthy Affiliate has to offer including the training courses, the business tools, the support and huge community, and other features. You can read my free guide by clicking the link below:

Final Words

If you’re someone who has a lot of time on your hands and you just want to have a little fun and earn a few pennies here and there, then there’s nothing wrong with joining a GPT site like InstaGC.

But if you’re serious about making money online, these sites are simply too low paying and it’s a big waste of time.

I hope you will check out my recommendation of learning to build an affiliate marketing business from Wealthy Affiliate, this is a legitimate opportunity to build something that can eventually allow you to quit your regular job and live the life of freedom.

Hi Kent, thank you for saving my time trying yet another “money online” empty promise. As you said, it is much cleverer to put the hours in now and develop a real online business. It’s an investment for the future and a real challenge whereas these “easy task” sites are can be mind numbing and they don’t pay well enough to be worth the time you spent on them. I will follow your advice! All the best

Those easy tasks are definitely not worth the time. I mean, you can’t even make anywhere near minimum wage doing it. The only way you’re going to make a living doing these GPT and other similar things is if you live in some 3rd world country where you only need $50 a month to survive or something. But hopefully most people who are looking into InstaGC aren’t attempting to do it for a living, and if they are then good luck, but I’d suggest you build an online business instead.

InstaGC sounds similar to an outfit that I tried a couple of years ago. I think it was called “Swagbucks” or something like that. Anyway, whatever it was called, the concept was the same, Based on your description of InstaGC, it sounds like a hobby for people who just want to enjoy filling out surveys, trying out products, etc. and are not in it for the money, what little of it there is.

As with the outfit I tried a couple of years ago, with InstaGC you don’t earn serious cold, hard cash–you earn “points”. Nobody has ever been able to pay for a fill up of gas, or a load of groceries, with “points”. I realize you can cash out points once a certain threshold is reached, but based on your much appreciated honest description of InstaGC, it sounds like it would take months of work to earn a pittance.

Your description of InstaGC and your contrasting it with Wealthy Affiliate will save people desperate for serious extra money a lot of false hope with InstaGC (and similar platforms) and steer them in the right direction toward Wealthy Affiliate and the opportunity for real cash rewards down the road.

    • Author - Kent Leung says:

The only good thing about InstaGC really is their low payout threshold of only $1. Other similar sites make you earn like $25 to $50 before they let you cash out, which is ridiculous. $50 doesn’t sound like a lot, but it will take you at least a few months to reach that. So that’s why if you’re going to do a GPT site, you might as well go with InstaGC or DollarClix where the payout minimum is only $1 and you can get your earnings as fast as possible.

But yeah if you’re looking to earn a serious part time or full time income, you won’t be able to do it with GPT sites. ALL of them are low paying, and it’s not like one day you’ll discover a high paying one, unless it’s a scam. Building your own online business really is the best way to go, it takes time and effort but it’s the real deal. There are no shortcuts to success!
