It seems like there’s an app for everything these days, and if you’re one of those people who download apps a lot did you know that there’s an app that PAYS you to download apps? FeaturePoints is an app that pays you points for downloading apps and taking surveys, these points can be redeemed for cash or gift cards.

But one lesson I’ve learned is that you have to make sure that a site is legit before you join, to avoid wasting your time. So is FeaturePoints a scam or can you earn money downloading apps? How much can you earn? How do you convert points to cash? This and more will be answered in this FeaturePoints review.

FeaturePoints Review

Name: FeaturePoints
Type: Paid to download apps
Membership Price: FREE to join

earn points for downloading free apps is a site that started up around 2012, you can download their app either with your iPhone or Android device. Once it’s downloaded you can open the app and see what apps are available to be downloaded. Most just require that you test it for about 2 minutes, then you earn points, very simple.

Of course there are cons. You won’t make a living doing this because points are worth very little, and you’ll only get a few apps to download. I’d recommend you check out sites like Swagbucks where there’s more ways to earn.

The Breakdown of How FeaturePoints Works

How To Join FeaturePoints?

Anyone from around the globe can download the FeaturePoints app and start earning points. If you want to get paid by Paypal then make sure that you sign up to FeaturePoints with the email of your Paypal account.

If you’ve been referred by someone else to join then you can enter the referral code and automatically earn a 50 points bonus. Once you’ve completed your profile you’ll get 10 points.

Downloading Apps

When you open the FeaturePoints app you’ll see a list of apps that are available for you to download. Beside them you’ll see the number of points you’ll earn after you download and fulfill the stated requirements, some just require you open it for two minutes, other apps such as games require that you play the game and reach a certain level.

Downloading apps pay you around 10-200 points each. Generally the more time/involvement it requires the more points it pays out.

Taking Surveys

There are also surveys available for you to take, these are provided by 3rd party research companies and you can earn up to 2500-4000 points per survey completed. The most annoying part is that you’ll have to pass the survey qualification screening test, if you don’t qualify you’ll have wasted your time for nothing.

Other sites like Swagbucks, Inbox Pays, and Cash Crate also gives you paid surveys, but you can also do other things to earn like by watching entertaining videos, playing games, searching the web, reading emails, shopping, and much more.

How Much Are Points Worth?

The really short answer is not much. 600 points equal $1 USD via Paypal. So imagine downloading apps that pay 30 points each, you’ll have to download 20 of them just to earn a freaking dollar!

Inviting Others To Join

Another way, and possibly the best way to earn, is by getting other people to join FeaturePoints under your referral link. You’ll earn 50% of all the points from your referrals, so if they earn 600 points, you earn 300 points automatically. This is the best way to earn because you can earn money passively, even while you’re sleeping.

But you won’t earn much unless you have the ability to refer 100’s and 1000’s of people to join. If you want to learn how to earn a full time income online by referring 1000’s of people  to join, then check out my FREE guide here.

How Do You Get Paid?

Once you have collected at least 600 points you can request a payout via Paypal, there are also other methods like Bitcoin, Amazon gift cards, Starbucks gift cards, PlayStation, Steam, League of Legends, and much more. What payment methods are available to you depends on your geographic location.

FeaturePoints Problems

Where Are My Points?

There’s a lot of complaints from FeaturePoints users that they downloaded apps and opened it for two minutes but didn’t receive the points promised, or that they’re “pending.” Apparently this app is not perfect and it’s possible there are bugs that affect you receiving points, although this is not the norm it is a possibility.

Points Can Expire

The points you have earned can expire due to 60 days of inactivity, and if you still have 1000’s of points then you’ll lose it all! I really dislike sites that expire your points, I don’t understand why they have to do this since it’s not like points are taking up serious storage space.

Points Have Uneven Value

Sometimes you’ll see certain rewards that cost more or less than other ones. For example it may cost 600 points to redeem a $1 USD reward via Paypal, but the same $1 reward may cost more or less points if you were to redeem it for a gift card.

Small Income

Downloading apps and taking surveys are both very easy ways to earn money, but you won’t make more than small pocket change. Ironically the best way to earn on FeaturePoints is barely even mentioned, it’s by referring others to join. This is because you can refer unlimited people and earn potentially a full time income, see my FREE guide to learn how to do this.

As far as extra income opportunities there are better sites to join such as Swagbucks, Inbox Pays, and Cash Crate where they provide more ways to earn.

Is FeaturePoints a Scam?

FeaturePoints appear to be a scam free site/app, but there are quite a few number of complaints such as random bugs causing points to not be credited, not having enough apps to download, and low earning potential. I’d recommend this as a legit way to earn a little pocket cash, but not much else.

If you’d like these kinds of small income sites, then check out my full list of recommended extra income sites, I have already reviewed these sites and marked as legitimate.

    Hey Kent,

Wow didn’t know we can now earn by downloading apps but man, looking from the way the coins are calculated, I have a feeling that it’s going to be like those survey sites where we do tedious jobs just to earn very little. Is it regional-based though? I tried finding the app on my iPhone but I couldn’t find it. I’m from Malaysia by the way.

Hey Riaz, no anyone can join. But currently they only have it in the Google Play Store so you need an Android phone. Yeah they’re similar to survey sites, but downloading apps and playing games could be a little more fun than sitting there answering a bunch of boring survey questions over and over.

I don’t get why people would even try this thing. You’re not gonna make any substantial money out of it and you’re only going to clog up your smartphone.

Maybe you could speed up the process if you got like 20 old smartphones, create 20 separate google accounts and simultaniously install as much apps as possible..

    • Author - Kent Leung says:

Well… I think you could uninstall the apps after you’ve finished earning the points from it and then download new ones. But yeah if you got 20 old smartphones and 20 google accounts laying around somewhere it’s worth a shot to go crazy installing those apps. But those points would accumulate in separate accounts and take a long time to reach cash out threshold.

I had been looking into this due to a referral from a friend that I go to school with, but it seemed pretty tough to make money. Glad I ran across your review here and found your tip on SwagBucks. I hadn’t heard of it before and it looks like a heck of a lot more viable option.

Is reading email really a legitimate way to make any decent money? Or would you mostly recommend skipping it and focusing your time elsewhere? I took a look at your Inbox Pays review and it looks like it would be hard to earn more than a few dollars…

    • Author - Kent Leung says:

I’ll just be honest, there’s no way to make any “decent money” with FeaturePoints or any other similar things. They’re all what’s called “beer money sites.” Maybe $10-$20 a month is possible, a little more for some people.

Reading emails is probably the lowest paying gig of them all. The general rule is the easier to do the lower they pay!
