Is Clixsense a Scam Or Legit? Review

earn with paid surveys offers figure eight tasks

Hello reader! Welcome to your friendly neighborhood blogger, another day and that means time for another reward site review, this time it’s Are they a scam or legit? How much cash rewards can you earn? These will all be answered by the end of this post.

Clixsense has been around since 2007 and they used to be a paid-to-click (PTC) site where you mainly earn money by clicking advertisements. But they have now changed to a get-paid-to (GPT) model where you earn by doing surveys, offers, tasks, and other things. They don’t seem to offer PTC anymore on their site as of 2018.

Overall they’re a good extra income site, but I still prefer these other top GPT sites over them.

In this review I’ll go over ways to earn, how they pay, the good and bad, and whether they’re a scam.

Intro – Clixsense Review

Name: Clixsense
Type: Get-paid-to (GPT) site
Membership Price: Free To Join
My Rating: 2.6 out of 5

earn money online taking surveys offers tasks

So I gave ClixSense a rating of 2.6 out of 5 and for the most part I like them, but they have some major drawbacks when it comes to cashing out and receiving your earnings.

I like how they ditched their earlier PTC model and now offers many ways to earn, but their payout protocol isn’t the best. They do offer many electronic payment methods but there are a crap ton of fees with most of them, Paypal is not a payment option, and also your first payment must be sent by check.

If you’re already a Clixsense then rest assured they’re legit and do pay, but there are many better sites out there like Swagbucks (read review) where you can get paid via Paypal plus other options and you don’t ever need to wait for a check if you don’t want to.

How Do You Earn Cash At Clixsense?

surveys paid offers referrals

Take Surveys

Clixsense offers paid surveys provided by 3rd party research companies, they usually pay around $0.50 to $1.25 and take no more than 30 minutes to complete. In the surveys section you’ll see a list of available surveys and how much they pay.

When you click the link to the survey you’ll be taken to a page where you’ll need to answer qualifying questions, this is NOT the paid survey itself, it’s just a screening survey that’s unpaid. If you qualify you’ll get to take the paid survey, if not then you can try again or curse at Clixsense for wasting your time for nothing.

Clixsense have both free and paid offers. This is where you sign up for websites, free ones typically just require you enter some basic personal info like email, name, birthday, etc. into a form and these pay $0.25 to $2.

For paid offers you’ll need to make a purchase or subscribe to a free trial with your credit card. These pay a lot higher at $2 to $10+ because they require more financial involvement from you.

Doing Tasks

Tasks are supplied by a 3rd party site called Figure 8 (formerly Crowdflower) and they are quite easy to do and require very little skill, example of tasks include categorizing photos, perform searches on Google, transcribing audio, and engaging in social media posts. Tasks are easy but you only earn about $0.01 to $0.04 each.

Games (not a way to earn)

Clixsense offers a variety of games that are free to play, these earn you no money so I’m not sure why they include them on their site. These games come in many categories like arcade, shooting, adventure, action, and more. Currently some games available include tetroid, zoo pinball, duck shooter, bottle flip, and more.

It sucks that Clixsense isn’t paying you to play these games, because that would be a fun way to earn. If you’d like to earn money playing these kind of games then check out Swagbucks (read review) instead where they DO pay you to play games.

Referring Friends

One of the best features of Clixsense is their referral program which is actually one of the best I’ve seen. You get your own referral link to promote, when someone signs up under your link you earn the following benefits:

-Signup commissions

When your referral first sign up you will receive $0.10 to $0.30 depending on what country they’re from, then once they have earned at least $5 you will earn $2 in bonus money.

-Activity commissions

You continue to earn if your referral is active on Clixsense. By default you earn 20% commission of whatever your referrals earn for life, once you have accrued 100 referrals your commission increases to 25%, and once you have 200 referrals it goes up to 30%.

Bonus Ways To Earn…

ClixAddon For Browser

There is an add on called ClixAddon you can install to your browser, this add on lets you know if there are any surveys or Figure Eight tasks available for you to do. Adding this to your browser also activates another bonus that I’ll discuss more on below.

Daily Checklist Bonus

Each day if you complete your daily checklist you will be rewarded with up to a 16% bonus of your day’s total earnings. To achieve your daily checklist you’ll have to either:

  • Complete 10 Figure Eight tasks or
  • Complete 2 offers or surveys
  • Complete 1 offer and 5 Figure Eight tasks

Completing any of the above will earn you a 12% bonus. You’ll also earn an additional 2% bonus if you install the ClixAddon addon and run it for at least 1 hour a day.

By completing the daily checklist bonus 3 days in a row you’ll earn an additional 2% bonus on the 3rd day for that day’s earnings, plus other days thereafter as long as you complete the daily checklist everyday. If you miss a day then the count will reset and you’ll need to complete them 3 days in a row again.

Tasks Weekly Contest

At the end of each week the top 10 members who complete the most Figure Eight tasks will earn a share of a $100 prize pool.

1st place earns $50, 2nd place earns $20, 3rd place earns $10, 4th-5th place earns $5, and 6th-10th place earns $2. Clixsense is a very large site with millions of members so you do have a LOT of competition, the guy who earned the $50 1st place prize this past week completed over 2,600 tasks in a week!

How Does Clixsense Pay You?

payment methods dwolla check payoneer

So far Clixsense seems pretty stellar, great ways to earn, great referral program, but they fall short when it comes to payments and there’s a few things I don’t like.

Their minimum payout is only $10 which is considered okay for the low paying tasks they offer. But the thing I dislike the most is how the first payment must be made via check, this is done to verify your address. After the first payment you’ll have the following payment options:

  • Dwolla (free)
  • Payoneer ($2 fee)
  • Skrill (1% fee)
  • Tango Card (free)
  • Check ($1 – free for the first payment)

I don’t know about you but I’d rather die before joining a site that makes you wait for a check. First of all they only mail out checks once a month on the 15th, then you have to wait 1-2 weeks to get it in the mail, then another 1-2 weeks to clear. That’s about 2 months total to get a measly $10!

That’s why I prefer other sites like Swagbucks (read review) where you can get paid via Paypal and do so quickly without having to go through some stupid address verification process. Also check out these top 6 sites that also pays quickly via Paypal.

What I Like

  • Accepts members from multiple countries including the USA, Canada, UK, Australia.
  • Offers many easy and fun ways to earn
  • Been around since 2007 and has paid over $32 million to their members
  • Has a really good referral program that is better than most sites I’ve reviewed

What I Dislike

  • Offers a games section yet doesn’t pay you to play them
  • Not possible to make a full time income on this site
  • Doesn’t offer Paypal as a payment option
  • First payment must be made via check
  • Lots of fees on most payment options

Final Verdict: Is Clixsense a Scam?

Clixsense has been around for well over a decade and have paid out millions and millions to their members, so they’re definitely a legit site that pays. With that being said I really dislike how they make you receive your first payment via check only and how much fees is associated with the other methods.

There are much better sites out there that has better ways to earn and pay much quicker. My favorite get-paid-to site is Swagbucks (read review) and that’s the one I usually recommend.
