make money selling arbonne products

Intro To Arbonne – What Is It?

Arbonne is a MLM (multi-level marketing) company that sells health and beauty products such as nutrition supplements, makeup, skincare, soaps, shampoo, and a bunch of other stuff. The company was founded in 1975 by a guy named Petter Morck, it is based in Irvine, California.

Arbonne currently operates in 7 countries including USA, Canada, Australia, UK, New Zealand, Taiwan, and Poland.

Their products are created with botanically-based ingredients that are pure and scientifically tested. They are ideal for people looking to transform their lives through healthy living with products that are clean, natural, and made with non-toxic ingredients.

What Products Does Arbonne Sell?

Arbonne sells many different products that can be put into 5 different categories: Nutrition, Skin Care, Bath & Body, Makeup, and Hair. Their products are made with natural and nontoxic ingredients, in fact they have over 2000 ingredients that are in their “not allowed” list.

Here are some examples of Arbonne’s line of products:

  • Nutrition – Vegan based protein shakes, chews, supplements, snack bars, and more.
  • Skin Care – Anti-aging creams, facial cleansers, acne creams, sunscreen, and more.
  • Bath & Body – Moisturizers, essential oils, body wash, lotions, and more.
  • Makeup – Liquid foundation, makeup primer, lipstick, eyeliner, and more.
  • Hair – Shampoo, conditioner, hair restorative serum, hair spray, and more.

Although these all-natural products are very popular these days, they’re not really unique because these are very common everyday items that you can find in your local drug store. You’ll need to give people a really good reason to buy Arbonne’s shampoo off of you as opposed to some other brand of all-natural shampoo from Walmart.

Another thing is that Arbonne products are not cheap. If you go on their website you’ll see that retail prices for common items like shampoo and conditioner costs $26 which is pretty insane. You can most certainly find something similar elsewhere at half that price or less.

But enough about their products, I’m sure you’re wondering how to make money with them?

Arbonne is a MLM company which means that one of their primary ways of selling their products is through independent distributors. Anyone interested in starting their own business with Arbonne can sign up to become a distributor.

Become an Arbonne Product Distributor

If you want to start your own business with Arbonne you can sign up to become an Independent Consultant, after joining you’ll be able to earn money by promoting and selling Arbonne products as well as recruiting others to do the same.

Independent Consultants do not work for Arbonne, they are independent business owners.

To get started you have to fill out the sign up sheet with your name and the ID of the Consultant who referred you to Arbonne. If nobody referred you then just enter your zip code and they’ll match you with a Consultant who will contact you.

You’ll have to pay the one-time $79 registration fee which includes a starter business kit with helpful information to get you started. Other fees include the $30 annual renewal fee which you’ll have to pay every year, starting from your second year.

Unfortunately the fees above don’t include any products which you’ll need if you’re going to be promoting Arbonne.

To get started as a Consultant you’ll need to purchase starter packs which can cost $270 to $500. You’ll also need to order a minimum amount every month, known as autoship, this will allow you remain as an active Consultant and be eligible to earn commissions.

All this adds up to hundreds of dollars for your first month’s start up expenses, then you’ll have recurring expenses every month after that! Unless you’re able to start selling or recruiting really effectively, it’s possible to lose a LOT of money right off the bat.

Arbonne Compensation Plan

Once you’ve joined as an Arbonne Independent Consultant you’ll have several ways to earn money which I’ll highlight below. Arbonne’s full compensation plan is quite in-depth and can be confusing for some people to understand, so I’ll try to put it down in laymen’s terms the best I can.

Basically there are 4 main ways to earn:

  1. Direct Sales – Earn 35% commissions for selling Arbonne products to normal retail customers (15% commissions for preferred customers)
  2. Overrides – Earn commissions from your recruited downline’s performance and sales
  3. Mercedez-Benz Cash Bonus – If you achieve the “Vice President” rank from your team sales you get to lease a white Mercedez-Benz car for 1 year. Not a very impressive bonus as it’s only a lease!
  4. Other Cash Bonuses, Incentives & Rewards  – Other types of bonuses and incentives such as vacation trips and prizes based on the sales volume from personal and team performances

For full details you can see Arbonne’s full compensation plan, if the 20 page long document is too confusing to understand you can watch the video below for an easier explanation.

Is Arbonne a Pyramid Scheme?

If you look at Arbonne’s compensation plan there does seem to be a pyramid shape thing going on, so I don’t blame you for wondering if they’re a pyramid scheme. But no, Arbonne is actually a MLM (multi-level marketing) business which is similar to, but different than a pyramid scheme.

Their main difference is the availability of products to sell. With MLMs there are always a line of products, in Arbonne’s case it’s their skin care, body care, nutrition, and make up products. Selling these products are the main way to earn and is the core of the business.

With MLMs you can earn by either selling those products or by recruiting others to do the same. With pyramid schemes there are no products, the only way to earn in that system is by recruiting.

It’s easy to see how pyramid schemes will eventually fail, this type of set up leads to most people failing at the bottom of the pyramid and eventually the whole thing collapses upon itself. That’s why pyramid schemes are considered illegal.

The bottom line is that Arbonne has products so it is categorized as a MLM company and therefore considered a legit in the eyes of the law. But still, I highly do not recommend you start a business with any MLM companies because they’re almost just as hard to make money as pyramid schemes!

Why Arbonne Is a Tough Way To Make Money

If you take a look at Arbonne’s Independent Consultant Compensation Summary, there is an income disclosure statement at the bottom that basically shows you exactly how much their “active” Consultants are making, and the numbers aren’t impressive at all:

average annual earnings of independent consultants
How much Arbonne Consultants earned in 2018

As you can see from the above screenshot, the large majority (90%) of their “active” Consultants are making a pitiful amount.

24% is making just $3851 a year which is about $320 a month, 66% are making $839 a year which is only about $70 per month!

And just so you know, only 17% of Arbonne’s Consultants were considered “active” which just means they’ve made at least one sale in a month. Meaning 83% of their Consultants didn’t even qualify to receive ANY commissions and had no income!

I don’t know about you, but if I was making $70 a month I might as well go work at McDonalds!

If these numbers seem disappointing to you, just know that it’s not unusual for people in MLM businesses to fail. In fact some studies have shown that failure rates for MLM businesses are as high as 99%! Meaning only 1 out of 100 people actually make money in the long run.

I highly recommend you forget about MLMs and check out my Top Work At Home Recommendation instead where I’ll show you how to make a $1000+ monthly online income by starting a blogging business. No selling or recruiting required, and FREE to start!

Is Arbonne a Scam Or Legit?

It appears that Arbonne is a legit MLM company that offers you a real business opportunity, that being said I personally would not join any MLM business or recommend anyone to do that.

The type of products you’ll be selling with Arbonne is very commonly available, the market for health and beauty products is incredibly saturated and many people are selling the same type of thing. You won’t really stand out or offer anything that unique, so in my opinion it’s going to be hard to succeed with so much competition.

In my opinion there’s a much easier type of business you should get into, one that’s much more likely for the average person to become profitable in. Keep reading to find out what this business is and how you can get started today for FREE.

My Top Work At Home Recommendation

As you’re probably aware by now I really dislike the MLM business model, yes they are legal and considered legit, but with all those restrictions and startup/ongoing costs it’s going to be a recipe for failure for most people.

Instead what I recommend to you is to build an affiliate marketing business instead, which is what I currently do myself to make a living online. Affiliate marketing is superior over MLM for several reasons:

  • There’s no selling or recruiting, you only have to RECOMMEND products
  • No dealing with customers
  • You can promote ANYTHING you want, you’re not limited to promoting that one MLM company’s products
  • FREE to start, but if you’re serious you may want to invest in some training courses

Basically what I do is I have a website and write review articles just like this one, my pages will rank on Google which brings me FREE organic visitors to my promotions of other people’s products and services. If a reader click my links and makes a purchase, I earn a commission for referring them.

This business is much easier to succeed in than MLMs because of the low costs and the freedom to promote anything you like.

I highly recommend you check out my Top Work At Home Recommendation which is a top rated training platform that teaches people on how to build a profitable affiliate marketing website business from the very beginning to end.

In addition to step-by-step training courses, they also provide you with tools like website builder, monthly website hosting, classrooms, 1-on-1 coaching, live webinars, and so much more. It’s the same platform that got me started with my website you’re on now.

Building a profitable website business with affiliate marketing is 100% legit, but the only downside is that it does take a lot of time for things to get off the ground. You can totally make $1000+ per month doing this, even a full time income is possible, but expect to put in at least 6-12 months of effort before seeing these types of results.

While your online business is building and growing, I recommend you check out my Favorite “Get-Paid-To” Sites which are sites that pay you for fun online activities like answering surveys, playing games, watching videos, and more. These sites won’t make you fortune, but they’re great for a fun past time while putting some coffee money in your pocket every month.

That’s it for my Arbonne review. I hope you found this article helpful, feel free to leave me to comment if you have any questions or anything to share.

Going by your explanation in the post, Arbonne appear legit; however, just as you, I have my reservations. First, the cost of the products are on the high side, and I would need to come up with tangible reasons to explain this to consumers what are responsible for the high price. Second, the compensation for networkers does not appear fantastic. That said, I would give it a try, would communicate my concern to the sales rep.
