If you’ve just started a blog and wondered why you haven’t gotten many visitors, you’ve come to the right blog. There are many things you can do with increase that traffic, and I’m going to share them with you.
Organic Traffic – Content Is King
So how to get traffic on your blog for free? Well, content is really the king, and writing more posts on your blog will be my #1 recommendation for you.
The more content you have on your blog the more keywords can rank on google, and so the more people will find your website when googling things. This type of traffic is called organic traffic.
Importance of Keyword Research
If you’re blogging without doing any research with a keyword research tool, this could be why you’re not getting much traffic. You can write the most interesting blog post in the world, but if you’re using bad keywords, then nobody will find that post. Bad keywords are those that have heavy competition, have low amount of searches, or both.
You don’t want to use the same keywords that 100s or 1000s of other people are using already, especially when your blog is new. When you’re new, you don’t get a lot of trust in the eyes of google, so your post likely won’t rank very high in the search results, and having 1000s of competitors on top of that will make it much harder for you to rank. So the best thing to do is to pick good keywords with very low competition, but high amount of searches.
How To Do Keyword Research
So how do you know which keyword is good or bad? The answer is to use a keyword research tool. A keyword research tool is something that you must have if you want to be a successful blogger.
Basically you enter any keyword into the tool, then it will show you a number of stats such as how many people search for that keyword every month, competition strength, and also how likely you’ll be able to rank high in google for that keyword.
Once you find a good keyword with low competition and high number of searches (I recommend at least 50 searches a month,) then use that keyword in the title of your blog post, and you should also write out the keyword at least one time in your blog post itself.
You can read more about keyword research tools and the #1 that I personally use for my blogs and the one I recommend HERE.
Other Methods of Getting Traffic
Besides writing more content, you can also derive traffic from social media such as Facebook, Twitter, and Google Plus. If you have people following your social media account, every time you share a post or a tweet with a link to your newest blog post, your followers can click that link and visit your blog.
If you’re able to amass a huge following on social media, this can become a very significant source of traffic for your blog. Imagine if you have 30,000 followers on Twitter, every time you tweet something you’re reaching out to the potential of 30,000 people! Realistically only a small number of your followers will see your post and engage with it, but still, even if just 10% of your followers click your link that’s still 3000 visitors!
There are also paid traffic from Facebook ads and other things like that, but in this post I’ll only share the free ways to get traffic. I hope this has helped some of you, and if you have any questions please let me know in the comment box below.
