Harris Poll Online Review – Scam Or Legit Paid Surveys?

earning rewards for paid research opinions

Back in the old days market research surveys were conducted over the phone, and you don’t get anything for doing them. Nowadays it’s done online, with many sites offering cash rewards for survey participants. Harris Poll Online is a site that offers paid surveys and pay you in gift cards.

They’re what I’d call a “pure” survey site, meaning there’s only one way to earn and it’s by taking surveys. You earn points and trade them in for gift cards. Harris Poll Online is not a scam, they’re a legit site that do pay and they’ve been around since 1963 and are highly trusted worldwide. Although they’re trustworthy, they’re really not that good in my opinion.

Other sites such as Swagbucks (read my review) also called a “get-paid-to” site, offers you endless ways to earn such as watching videos, filling out sign up forms, playing games, viewing ads, and more. Plus, they pay you in CASH via Paypal, but if you want gift cards they have plenty of those too.

In this Harris Poll review I’ll go over all the fine details, how it works, how they pay, and a final thought on whether I think you should join or not.

Harris Poll Online Review

Name: Harris Poll Online
Website: harrispollonline.com
Type: Paid surveys site
Membership Price: Free
My Rating: 1.9 out of 5

get paid to take surveys online

In this review Harris Poll Online scored a 1.9 out of 5, if you take their surveys you will get paid, but there are far better sites to join. The first thing I don’t like about them is how there’s no other way to earn except surveys, surveys suck because you rarely qualify and just waste time spent answering the screening questions.

They also operate on a point system which I’m not a fan of, meaning you get paid in points and exchange them for rewards. I rather join sites that pay you in cash directly, or in points that can be converted to cash.

Overall they’re nothing special, you’d think that a site that’s been around this long would be on top of the game. Nowadays people want CASH, not gift cards. They also want more ways to earn, and many other sites have evolved to adapt this, but it seems Harris Poll Online haven’t caught on.

How Does Harris Poll Online Work?

Signing Up

At this time only people from the USA and Canada can join, but membership is free of charge. After you have created an account with your email address you will start receiving survey invitations by email. Clicking on the survey link in the email will start the survey. Sometimes you may also get opportunities to participate in phone surveys or focus groups.

Starting a Survey

Just because you can start a survey it doesn’t guarantee you’ll get paid. There are demographic qualifications that must be met, you have to answer a bunch of screening questions to see if you qualify or not. Many people complain that surveys are a waste of time because most times you don’t qualify.

Sweepstakes Entry

One thing I do like about Harris Poll Online is that they offer a quarterly sweepstakes with a $10,000 prize to the winner. You get entries into this sweepstakes if you take a survey but end up not qualifying. So it’s like a consolation prize. But honestly this is just a lottery draw and most of us aren’t going to win anything…

Completing a Survey

If you’re one of those lucky people who do qualify for a survey, congratulations. They’ll give you the REAL survey, the one that’s paid. Generally these surveys take no more than 10-20 minutes to complete, and you’d get paid in “HIpoints”. Some surveys pay more points and some pay less, but they’ll tell you how much exactly in the email invite.

So how much are points worth? I’ll get to that next…

Harris Poll Online Rewards

The minimum redemption starts at $10 and that is about 1250 HIpoints. You can trade in your HIpoints for gift card rewards, but there’s no way to turn them into cash.

But there are some big names gift card options such as Amazon, Walmart, iTunes, Starbucks, Home Depot, and you even have the choice to donate your earnings to a charity.

Personally I dislike sites only offering gift cards because I rarely shop online and I’d rather have cash via Paypal that can be withdrawn into my bank account and I can do whatever I wish with it. If you feel the same then check out These Top 6 Survey Sites That Pay With Paypal.

The Good

  • Membership is free of charge and you only need an email to sign up
  • Offers a chance to win their quarterly sweepstakes even if you don’t qualify
  • Offers many gift card options including big names like Walmart, Amazon, Starbucks

The Bad

  • Only USA and Canadian people can sign up
  • Pure survey site with no additional ways to earn
  • No cash payments via Paypal or check, only gift card rewards
  • No referral program
  • Only a very small supplemental income opportunity, don’t quit your day job to do this

Is Harris Poll Online a Scam?

Harris Poll has been around since the 1960’s and is trusted company worldwide, they’re definitely not a scam. But just because they’re trustworthy doesn’t make them a good site to earn at. They have limited ways to earn and their rewards don’t come in cash. The quarterly $10,000 sweepstakes is okay, but winning it is just a dream for most.

I prefer another survey site called Swagbucks (read my review) which is technically a “get-paid-to” site that offers endless ways to earn, and they pay cash with Paypal (and gift cards too if you want those).

But no matter which site you join, these things are only good for a supplemental income.
