The first time that I came upon this site called Gold Opinions I saw that they have a really flashy sales page, they make it sound like you’re getting a golden opportunity (no pun intended) to make a lot of money taking surveys. But when something sounds too good to be true, it usually is – especially in the make-money-online industry. So is Gold Opinions a scam?
After taking a look at Gold Opinions myself, I noticed several major red flags that indicated to me that they’re a scam. So in this Gold Opinions review I’m going to go over those red flags and I’ll explain why it makes them a scam.
There are legit paying survey sites out there, this isn’t one of them. If doing online surveys for cash is what you want, the top 3 most reputable and FREE survey sites I know of are SwagBucks, Inbox Pays, and Cash Crate.

Gold Opinions – Who Are They?
Name: Gold Opinions
Type: Survey site
Price: $27 monthly / $1 for 7-day trial
My Rating: 1 out of 5
Gold Opinions is basically a site that promises you all sorts of glory with a flashy sales page. On that sales page you’ll find many ridiculous claims that are just lies. They’ll tell you how you can make $30 for doing a 45 minute survey, and up to $50 for premium surveys. It’s all lies, legit survey sites don’t pay this much. Typically you’ll only get $0.25 to $2 to complete a survey.
The Gold Opinions membership isn’t free, it cost $27 monthly, and you can access their 7-day trial for $1. What you’re paying for is basically a list of survey sites that you can easily find for free anywhere on the internet. Just type in “do online surveys for cash” and literally 1000’s and 1000’s of survey sites will pop up. Why do you need Gold Opinions again? You don’t.
I would not recommend you join Gold Opinions, it’s highly likely you won’t see a positive return on the money you spend for their paid membership for that list of survey sites you could find anywhere.
What Does a Membership Get You?
Survey List & Tips
There is a getting started section where they will provide you with some beginner tips, such as using a robo form which can help you fill in the screening portions of surveys much faster. This is a good tip for helping save time, but legit surveys are still low paying and this doesn’t really help with that.
Then they’ll also provide you with a list of survey sites and encourage you to sign up to as many of them as you can, this is because they make a commission for referring you there. When you take surveys on those sites, Gold Opinions get a percentage of what you earn.
So not only do Gold Opinions benefit from your paid membership on their site, but also from the surveys you take on sites they referred you to!
“Premium” Paid Surveys
They give you a big list of over 150 survey sites. They make it sound like this list is something special, as if they carefully selected the highest paying surveys and that only exclusive members get to benefit from this list.
The reality is that these so-called premium paid surveys is not so premium, once you look at the list it’s actually not so special at all. Like I said, these survey sites are plentiful and you can find them free on the internet, you don’t need Gold Opinions.
I’m not so sure they even screened them at all. Although there are many legit paying survey sites out there, plenty more are very dodgy and some are even scams that don’t pay. If this list was just randomly thrown together, then there could very well be some scams in there.
Paid Surveys By Country
If you live in the US then this section is probably not that useful for you, because most survey sites provide membership for US citizens. So this is mainly for people living in other countries to find survey sites that offers membership to their specific country. But again, you can easily just google this up in seconds.
Sign Up Bonus of $400
Lots of legit survey sites offer sign up bonuses, but the common denominator is that they’re all very small, like $5 or $1. This $400 sign up bonus is basically them giving you a list of survey sites that have small sign up bonuses, and so all of them adding together to provide you with $400 worth of sign up bonuses.
You may think you can just sign up to all those sites and receive your free $400? No way. All those sites have minimum payment thresholds, usually you’ll have to earn at least $25 to $50 before you can request a payout. And because all legit survey sites only pay $0.25 to $2 and not the $30 to $50 claimed by Gold Opinions, it will take you probably at least a month or two to meet the payout threshold for just ONE site.
So this $400 sign up bonuses really misleads you into thinking it’s $400 of easy free money when it’s not!
3 Major Red Flags – Signs of a Scam
1. Misleading and Ridiculous Statements
Under the “why join us” section there are a bunch of points which are all a bunch of misleading and ridiculous statements. I’m going to go over these points and explain why you shouldn’t believe them:
Legit survey sites are all low paying, typically you’ll be making $0.25 to $2 to complete a survey that takes 10 to 30 minutes to complete. A 45 minute survey that pay $30 is not the reality you’ll experience. Although high paying surveys like those do exist, they are extremely exclusive to a very specific demographic, and 99.9% of the time you will not qualify to take it. Joining Gold Opinions and paying them for a membership will not change this at all.
If it was this easy to make $30 an hour then everybody would be taking surveys for a living and nobody would go to work. Survey sites are just a way to make a very small scrap income, a few dollars here and there, you can’t make a living doing it.
If you’re looking for a legit way to make a part time or full time online income, then forget about survey sites and other similar things and go check out my #1 recommended way of making money online.
The above statements are misleading once again. They make it sound like they somehow know where to get all those exclusive high paying surveys, but they are only trying to mislead you. The only thing the paid membership gets you is a list of survey sites that you can easily find on the internet yourself for free. You don’t need to pay some 3rd party middle man for some worthless list.
2. Using Scarcity Sales Tactic
Under the “Join Now” section they tell you that for a “limited time only” you can try out their membership for 7 days for only $1. Then they tell you that it’s only a “3 day sale,” creating a sense of urgency that pushes the buyer to make a decision. This is a scarcity sales tactic, and scams are notorious for using it.
What is so funny about this is that when you go back to the same page a week later, somehow the “limited time only” still hasn’t gone away and the “3 day sale” is still going on. If what they’re selling really is so good, why are they trying to push you into buying before you’re ready?
3. It’s Not Free
One thing that all scams have in common is that they all require some kind of membership fee to join. I’m not saying that any program that requires payment is a scam, but all scams do require payment.
In the case of the Gold Opinions membership all you’re getting is some stupid list of survey sites that you can easily get for free by google it. The membership does not get you anything special or exclusive. Most surveys are still low paying and you’ll have to qualify for them first, and having a Gold Opinions membership does not make it any more or less likely of you qualifying for any surveys.
Are There ANY Legit Survey Sites Out There?
The bottom line is that Gold Opinions is selling you a membership that provides you with a list of survey sites that you can just find on your own for free after a few clicks on google. What they’re selling you is very low in value and I suggest that you stay away from them and not give them your money.
Not all survey sites are scams though, there are actually lots of legit survey sites out there that do pay. But legit does not mean they’re worth the time, personally I think all survey sites are a big waste of time. But if you still want to join and cash paying survey site, the top 3 I usually recommend are SwagBucks, Inbox Pays, and Cash Crate.
A Better Way to Make Money Online
I don’t take surveys anymore ever since I found a much better way to make money online. In December of 2016 I found an online training platform called Wealthy Affiliate that teaches people how to build a profitable online business from the ground up.
Wealthy Affiliate offer both a free and premium membership, but unlike Gold Opinions, the membership at Wealthy Affiliate provides you with a plethora of value – 20 training lessons, 100’s of videos and written tutorials, business tools, 1-on-1 coaching, support from a community of 250,000+ members, and more!
Wealthy Affiliate is NOT a get-rich-quick program. What they teach is a legit way to build a real online business that has the potential to give you a substantial part time or full time income. They teach a real business model used by millions all over the world, and it really works, but real work and effort is required to build it.
