Online surveys are becoming more and more popular these days, they’re one of the first things that pops up when people search for make money online opportunities.

Recently I’ve been seeing an increase number of sites offering video surveys, unlike traditional written surveys these video surveys require you upload a video of yourself talking. Mindswarms is one such site, they offer video surveys which can be accessed via their website or with their smartphone app.

Just like traditional surveys it requires you to qualify for them first before being allowed to take them and get paid, but unlike traditional surveys these video surveys pay you a lot of money for your time. So is Mindswarms a scam or legit? The answer may surprise you.

In this Mindswarms review I’ll go over everything you need to know including how it works, how they pay, the good and bad, and whether they’re a scam or legit.

Quick Summary

Mindswarms is definitely a legit survey site. I rated them a 3.1 out of 5 because despite the fact that their surveys are very high paying, qualifying for one isn’t easy and you’ll still be wasting a lot of time with the unpaid screening questions.

I do love how they pay you a lot of money for your time, $10 to complete a 1 question study (study = survey) and $50 to complete a 7 question study.

You’ll be making a pretty high hourly income since a 1 question video study will only take you about 5-10 minutes to record. Even after factoring the time spent with the unpaid screening questions, overall you’ll still be making around at least $30-$40 an hour.

This is a lot higher paying than traditional written surveys where typically you only get $0.25 to $2 for a 10 minute survey.

These video surveys do require you upload a video of yourself talking to a camera, so if you’re camera shy or inarticulate then this may not be right for you. For camera shy people out there who rather do traditional written surveys instead, check out my list of Top Extra Income Sites Recommendations.

How Does Mindswarms Work?

Technical Requirements

You can join Mindswarms from any country in the world, but your location does play a part in how many surveys you qualify for. Generally people from western countries get a lot more opportunities than those from Pakistan and India for example.

You don’t need any fancy equipment or anything, just a few basic things:

  • A computer or a smart phone
  • Good quality camera
  • Good quality microphone

The videos you record doesn’t have to be in 1080p or anything, but poor video/audio quality can make the difference of qualifying for a study or not.

Getting Started

To create a new account at Mindswarms all you need to do is enter your name, email, and some other basic info.

Then you’re going to need to pass their entrance test.

You’re required to upload a short video of yourself talking into a camera describing one of your passions, why it’s so special for you, and how it fits into your life.

After recording your video response to these questions you can submit them to Mindswarms and you’ll be notified if they accept it or not. If you do get accepted you can start applying for studies and make money, if you didn’t get accepted you can redo the video and try again.

Applying For Studies

applying for video study

Once you have passed the entrance test you can start applying for studies, “studies” is the same thing as surveys by the way. There are 2 types of studies, short 1 question studies that pay $10 and longer 7 question studies that pay $50.

You’ll see a list of studies you can apply for, the application process involves some screening questions but these don’t require you to upload a video and only takes about 5 minutes.

You’ll need to qualify for the study before being able to do them and get paid, and just like traditional written surveys how often you qualify depends on your demographics and what researchers are looking for.

Completing The Study

If you do get approved to do the study then you just have to record yourself answering their questions on camera and submit the video response.

So for the short 1 question study it’ll just be you answering one question on camera, and for the 7 question study you’ll be answering 7 questions.

You’ll be asked to share your perceptions and opinions on various brands, products, apps, websites, and other things. Just answer the questions with as much detail as you can.

For a 1 question study it shouldn’t take you more than about 5-10 minutes, for the 7 question study about 30 minutes.

Once you have finished recording yourself answering those questions you can then submit them to Mindswarms.

Note: Each study has a limited amount of slots and if you take too long to complete the study then all the slots would be filled by other people and you’ll find yourself unable to complete the study! So do them quick as soon as you get approved.

Your Video Gets Reviewed…

It will take about 24hrs for your video response to be reviewed and either get approved or rejected.

Rejection is typically caused by a problem with your video or audio quality being too low, but in that case you do have the option to redo it and resubmit it.

If your video response gets approved then you will get paid right away via Paypal.

How To Get Paid By Mindswarms?

getting paid via paypal

There’s currently only one way to receive payment from Mindswarms and it’s Paypal.

After you have submitted your video response to the study, it will either be approved or rejected within 24hrs. If you get approved you can expect to get the $10 or $50 in your Paypal account within 24hrs.

So basically there’s no minimum cash out thresholds. As long as you’ve completed at least one study they’ll pay you right away.

This is so much better than other survey sites where there’s usually a high amount of earnings you have to reach first, typically around $25 to $50, before they pay you.

Mindswarms never holds onto your money, this means you won’t have to stare at a balance anticipating the day you finally reach the threshold.

How Much Can You Earn?

Hourly speaking you’ll be earning somewhere around $30-$40 an hour which is a very good return investment for your time.

However, you won’t get very many video survey opportunities, you’ll be lucky to get 1 or 2 a month.

People in the USA will receive and qualify for more opportunities because they are the main target demographic base of most advertisers, while people in non-English speaking countries generally get less opportunities.

But overall people in the USA can expect to earn about $10-$50 a month, maybe a bit more or less.

The bottom line is this isn’t something you can quit your day job over.

Who Is Mindswarms Ideal For?

Mindswarms is ideal for people who want to make some extra money and are comfortable speaking in front of a camera. You should be somewhat articulate and able to loudly and clearly express yourself.

At most this website will earn you maybe $50 a month, so it’s not too bad for people merely looking to supplement their income, this could certainly pay for your phone bill or something.

For those looking to earn more than $50 a month you could Join Multiple Extra Income Sites to stack your earnings.

The Positives

  • Anyone around the world can join and participate, although certain countries tend to receive more opportunities than others
  • The pay is much higher than traditional written surveys
  • They pay via Paypal which is very convenient

The Negatives

  • You can’t just log in and take video surveys all day, you still need to qualify first
  • There are many users reporting not receiving many studies to partake in
  • Even if you get approved for a study you might still get kicked off due to all the slots being filled as you’re still working on it
  • Not a way to make a full time income online

Is Mindswarms a Scam Or Legit?

Mindswarms is definitely legit and they’re one of the highest paying survey sites where you can earn $10 to $50 for answering a few questions. By “high paying” I mean you earn a lot for your time, but don’t expect to get rich doing it because unfortunately you won’t get too many opportunities to earn.

You’ll still have the same problems as with traditional written surveys which is having to qualify, and you can still get kicked off the survey due it to being “full” while you’re still working on it.

If talking on camera is not your thing then maybe you’d be happier with my Favorite “Get-Paid-To” Sites instead where you can earn money online watching advertisements, playing games, signing up for websites, and other things like that. They have surveys too but they’re written surveys and only pay $0.25 to $2.50 each.

But survey sites of all types are just a way to earn extra income, they won’t let you earn a living. If you’d like to learn how to make a full time online income by building websites/blogs, then check out my #1 Recommended Way of Making Money Online.

Yeah you can join from any country. If you’re from America (USA) then you’ll probably get even more survey opportunities than any other country.

Is Mind swarms a scam? Either You’re looking for fast ways to make a few bucks, Mind swarm isn’t for you. Because it takes long to get one.. and sometimes you don’t even get the money. Try swagbucks, yeah it’s not that fast but there’s more surveys.

    Cons:

Usually doesn’t have a lot of surveys
    Takes longer to get paid
    Sometimes you don’t qualify

    Pros
if you do get paid it’s alot
