Checkout 51 Review
Name: Checkout 51
Type: Earn cashback shopping
Membership Price: FREE to join
Checkout 51 is a cashback website/app that started up back in 2012. On their website or app they show you a big list of different grocery store items, aka “offers”, if you find and buy them at your local grocery store and upload a picture of your receipt to prove that you’ve bought it, then you can earn cashback – typically around $0.50 to $2 per item.
Once you’ve earned $20 they’ll pay you by check. Although this sound like a good way to save $100s of dollars, there are many things I don’t like about them which I’ll be discussing below.
How Checkout 51 REALLY Works
How To Join Checkout 51?
Afterwards you can sign up with either your Facebook account or your email. From there you can log in through the app or the website to begin browsing through their cashback offers.
Earning Cashback – As Simple As 1, 2, 3!
Step 1 – Add Your Offers
In the “offers” section of their app you’ll see a list of everyday products such as toothbrush, milk, dish detergent, chips, cookies, and more, beside them you’ll see a dollar amount, this is how much cashback you’ll earn if you purchase it at your local grocery store. You can also find specific items by typing in the search bar above the app.
Step 2 – Buy Products In Store
Now you’ll have to go to the grocery store and find/buy these items.
They don’t tell you exactly where these items are sold, so it’s up to you to go and find them. But many of these products are well-known brands like Hellman’s mayo or whatever and can be easily be found in most grocery stores.
Step 3 – Redeem For Cashback
Once you’ve bought the items, you’ll have to click the “redeem” button on the app.
Select all the items on your list that you want to redeem for cashback for, then click “continue” and this will prompt the app to access your smartphone’s camera which you’ll use to take a picture of your grocery shopping receipt that shows you bought the item.
Once you’ve taken a photo of your receipt and uploaded it, your submission will be queued to be approved by Checkout 51 staff members, approval usually only takes a couple of hours. Once it’s been approved you’ll see your cashback earnings appear in your account.
How Do You Get Paid?
As soon as you’ve collected $20 in cashback they will send you a check, it will take about 15-30 business days for you to receive it. Unfortunately they don’t pay with Paypal or anything else.
If check is too slow for you then check out Swagbucks instead where you can earn cashback and get paid with Paypal or gift cards in a matter of days. Swagbucks also let you earn some extra pocket money by taking surveys, doing offers, playing games, watching videos.

Is Checkout 51 a Legit Cashback App?
It appears that Checkout 51 is a legit cashback site/app. The thing that bothers me the most is how 99% of their cashback offers are for items that I never purchase. I’m not going to go out of my way and buy things I don’t normally buy just for the sake of earning cashback. The other thing I don’t like is they only pay with check which is far too slow.
Overall there are better sites to join such as Swagbucks which also offers cashback/coupons, but they pay with Paypal instead of a slow ass check. Also they provide you some cool tasks you can do to easily earn $25-$50 a month.
