Cashback Research Reviews – Scam or Legit Paying Surveys?

take surveys earn cash for honest opinions

Name: Cashback Research
Type: Paid survey site
Membership Price: Free to join
My Rating: 2.1 out of 5

When you first go on the Cashback Research website they seem to look really professional, but just because it looks professional doesn’t necessarily mean it’s legit. Although there are many legit paying online survey sites out there, scams are kind of common in the make-money-online industry, and so you gotta tread carefully to avoid wasting any time, energy, or god forbid – losing money.

So is Cashback Research a scam or legit? In this Cashback Research reviews I will go over how you can make any money on this survey site, how you’d be paid, the pros, the cons, and whether they’re a scam or not.

But just keep in mind that even if it’s not a scam, ALL online surveys are not worth your time, they are all incredibly low paying relative to time spent and you won’t make any more than pocket change every few months. What’s Cashback Research & How Do You Earn Money?

earn real money for giving your opinions

Cashback Research is a South Carolina based paid survey site, they let people earn a little cash by taking their surveys. They’ve actually been around on the internet since 2007, that’s quite a while and that’s probably a good sign they could be legit, scams don’t tend to hang around that long. All you need for an account is a working email. Once you’ve signed up and logged in, you can start earning by a variety of ways:

$5 Sign Up Bonus

They give you $5 just for signing up, so that’ll start you off on the right foot.

Doing Daily Surveys

Doing surveys is the main way to earn on Cashback Research. There are daily surveys you can take and you can access these surveys by going to the “daily surveys” section of your user dashboard. You may find “red” surveys and “black” surveys, the red ones are those you are pre-qualified for and so you’ll likely be able to take a paid survey, the black ones are those you may or may not qualify for. Personally I’d just take only the red surveys as I don’t like to waste my time doing a survey only to find out I don’t qualify halfway through.

Note: Unfortunately you won’t be given any daily surveys until you “activate” them by joining at least one survey panel on a list they give you. These survey panels are simply other survey sites. Basically Cashback Research refers you to 3rd party survey providers and receives a commission as a result.

Joining Survey Panels

Once you’re logged to your account you will see the list of survey panels on the right side of your screen. You are encouraged to join all of them and they tell you that you will earn $10 if you join at least 12 of them. This is only true if you haven’t joined any of them before, if you’re already a member then you won’t be credited.

As previously mentioned, survey panels are just other survey sites, Cashback Research wants you to join them because they benefit from referring you to those 3rd party survey providers.

Signing Up For Offers

On the bottom left hand side of your user dashboard you’ll see a little yellow box called “Bonus Cash Offers.” In the box will be several offers with the amount of pay you’ll receive for completing those offers. So what are offers? They’re typically things like signing up for a website, trying a new app, joining a free trial, doing surveys, and other simple tasks like that. Most are free to do, some others like free trials often require a credit card. Be sure to read the fine print and to cancel before your free trial ends to make sure you don’t get charged!

Membership Rankings – Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum

There are 4 different membership rankings and the higher up you are the more you’d be paid for daily surveys. When you first join Cashback Research you’re automatically a Bronze member, which is the lowest level and you’ll be paid $0.50 per daily survey you complete. Then the next level up is Silver, Gold, and Platinum. As a Silver member you’ll get $0.55 per daily survey, as Gold member you’ll get $0.60, and Platinum gets $0.65.

So how do you move up the membership rankings? By joining survey panels of course. Cashback Research really likes to push you to sign up to those 3rd party survey sites through their site, because it earns them a commission. You’ll move up from Bronze to Silver by joining at least 10 survey panels. You’ll move further up to Gold once you’ve joined 15 panels or have obtained at least 5 payouts. You’ll finally reach Platinum once you have achieved 10 payouts.

More Ways To Earn Money Online

If you don’t like doing surveys and prefer to make money doing things that are more FUN, try GPT (get-paid-to) sites like SwagBucks, Inbox Pays, and Cash Crate where you can earn a bit of extra cash watching videos, playing games, clicking ads, and more. But sadly, GPT sites are just as low paying as survey sites. If you’re looking to make a real income, a part time or full time living online, check out my #1 Recommended Way of Making Money Online.

How Much Money Can You Earn?

The short answer is, not much. If you’re industrious you may earn enough for a few cups of coffee every month. As I’ve briefly mentioned at the beginning of this post, ALL online surveys are time wasters and not good for making any serious money.

Look, how much you can earn depends on how many surveys you qualify for, and that depends on your demographics, education, line of work, interests, etc. While some people claim to be able to make a few hundreds a month, this is very very rare.

In my experience the vast majority of people are looking at somewhere in the range of maybe $10-$50 every FEW months, that’s if you log in to do surveys everyday. Then on top of that you’d have to worry about whether you’d actually get paid that money or not, as some survey sites are scams! Do you really want to deal with all this headache for a few cheeseburgers?

In their own words, Cashback Research says “You won’t get rich, but you’ll get paid!” So at least they’re honest about it and aren’t deceiving you into thinking you can make more money than what’s realistically possible.

How Do You Get Paid?

First you’d have to reach the minimum payout threshold of $30, this is how much you must earn from doing their surveys and other offers before they allow you to request a payout. Once you’ve earned at least $30 you can request to get a payout via Paypal or Amazon gift card.

While $30 may not sound like a lot of money, believe me, it will take you a long time to achieve that…possibly months! For those who just want their money as quick as possible, check out Swagbucks where the payout threshold is only $3.

The Positives

  • They give you a $5 sign up bonus
  • They pay via Paypal which is very convenient
  • They’re honest about how you won’t get rich

The Negatives

  • Low earning potential
  • $30 payout threshold which is considered high
  • They mainly just refer you to 3rd party survey sites which may or may not be legit
  • Not an answer to those looking to make a part time or full time income online

Final Verdict: Scam or Legit?

Cashback Research seems to be a legit survey site, although they’re not really a real survey site in the sense that they don’t really provide you with their own surveys, they just push you to sign up to 3rd party survey providers via their links. They don’t provide any additional information on those 3rd party survey sites, and so it’s up to you to do research on whether those sites are legit or not.

That being said, they are a legit opportunity for those people with too much time on their hands to earn a little pocket change. If you’re here trying to make enough to pay your rent, don’t bother, you will be disappointed. I know, because I’ve been there. I used to do these surveys with the goal of making some real money, and it was just a big waste of time.

But then in December of 2016 I found a much better way to earn money online. I’ve been doing it since then and I’m now making a consistent monthly online income, with my earning potential increasing every month. I wrote all about it in my free guide which you can read below:
