Review – Another Scam or Legit Survey Site?

getting paid for your opinions

Name: BigSpot
Type: online surveys
Membership Price: Free to join
My Rating: 0 out of 5

So you’ve found something called BigSpot and you want to know what it’s all about. At first it looks like another survey site where you can get paid for sharing your opinions, but this one is quite a bit different than the typical survey site you’ll find on the internet. So is a scam or a legit survey site? It’s…different. I’ll explain more below.

In this review I’ll go over how this site works, how you can make money, how you’d get paid, and whether it’s worth your time or not.

Want To Make Money Online But Sick
Of Running Into Scams? – How Does It Work?

get paid to give your opinions doing surveys

First Impression

The first thing I noticed right away is the cute little cartoon drawings on the front page with 3 parts “Join, Share, Get Paid”.  It looks like a very pleasant and fun survey site to be on. Then there’s a sign up form, but not much else which is weird.

Every time I check out a new survey site I always look for more information first such as reading the FAQ and how the rewards work. But with BigSpot all I could find was the privacy policy, terms, contact, and the sign up form, there’s no FAQ or any other information. The only clue as to what the site is even about is in the cartoon drawings which says you’ll get paid for sharing your opinions.

So to find out how things actually work you’d actually have to sign up for an account, and so I did. I filled in my email, date of birth, ethnicity, gender, and my country. They didn’t require a password which was very odd, of all the survey sites I’ve signed up before this was the first time that an account creation did not require a password.

Once you’ve created an account you’ll be taken to a page with a list of other survey sites (see picture below) that you’re encouraged to join. This was really pointless. So BigSpot don’t actually have any surveys themselves, they just refer you to other sites that do!

This is what you’ll see after you join BigSpot:

How Do You Earn Money?

BigSpot Don’t Have Surveys

BigSpot offers you very little, and there’s really no point in joining them at all. As you can see from the picture above, they give you a list of 3 different survey sites to join with no additional details or information about them. These are not exclusive survey sites with some special perks, they’re just ordinary survey sites out of the 1000’s and 1000’s out there on the internet, you could easily find a bunch of these with a simple google search.

Earning The Money

So how do you earn money? Well, you could earn money by taking surveys from one of those sites that BigSpot recommends. But the thing is, why do you even need to join BigSpot when you could just join those sites directly? You can easily find 1000s of survey sites out there on your own. The top 2 sites for taking surveys I often recommend are SwagBucks, Inbox Pays, and Cash Crate.

How REAL Survey Sites Work

After you join a survey site you’d usually be asked a few questions about your demographics, income, education, interests, gender, whether you own a house/car or not, and other things like that. Then they’ll send you an invitation to do a survey when opinions from people of your demographics are needed. Once you complete the survey you’ll be paid, usually via Paypal or gift cards. Each survey pays differently but it’s usually around $0.50 to $2 per survey, generally the longer ones pay more.

But the real problem with surveys is more often than not you’ll waste time filling out the pre-qualifying surveys only to find out you don’t even qualify for the actual paid survey. It’s that kind of problem that makes doing online surveys a big waste of time and a terrible way to earn money online. What’s In It For

You may be thinking why even exist? From the user’s point of view they are quite useless and there’s no point in joining. So is there something in it for BigSpot when you join? The answer is yes. They benefit from your membership in 2 ways:

They Make Commissions From Referring You

Their whole purpose is to get you to join their list of survey sites, because they earn a commission from those sites for referring you to them. This is called affiliate marketing and it’s actually a  pretty good business model for making money online, I do it too and I see nothing with it. What I do have a problem though is the fact that BigSpot doesn’t provide it’s users with anything useful. They just toss some links at you with no other info and just push you to join.

They Have Your Email Address

To join BigSpot you’d need to provide them with your email address, and once they have your email they can do 2 things. They could send you emails about new products and programs they want you to join, or they could even sell your email to 3rd party sites who could then spam you. The first one is just slightly annoying, but the second one is actually illegal and so I don’t think BigSpot would be doing that. I don’t have proof of what they actually do with your email, and it could be nothing, but it’s something to keep in mind.

How Do You Get Paid?

Since BigSpot don’t have any surveys themselves, they don’t pay you anything. They’re just a 3rd party middle man whose only role is referring you to other sites that actually have the surveys. Those other sites will be the ones paying you if you take their surveys, typically via Paypal or gift cards. BigSpot doesn’t pay anything to anyone.

Final Verdict: Scam or Legit?

Since you can join for free, I wouldn’t call it a scam. They’re not tricking you into paying money and ripping you off, they’re just trying to get you to join survey sites through their links so they get a commission off of it.

I would have less of a problem with if they had at least provided their users with a bit of detail and information about the sites they’re referring you to, such as ratings, rewards, payout methods, etc. but they do none of that. They’re not a scam, but I still do not recommend them because they’re useless to you as a user.

If you still want to make money taking surveys then the top sites I’d recommend are Swagbucks, Inbox Pays, and Cash Crate.

Make Money Online Doing This Instead

If you’re someone looking to make a part time or full time income online, then do yourself a favor and just forget about these survey sites, you can’t make a living doing them because they’re too low paying. Typically you can only expect to make $10-$50 every few months doing surveys, that’s if you do them everyday.

I used to do surveys too until December 2016 when I found something called Wealthy Affiliate, a training platform that teaches an online business model that anyone can learn to do and start earning from.

Under Wealthy Affiliate’s training I’m currently making a consistent monthly online income with earnings growing every month. To learn what is it I do, how it works, why it works so well, and about the training at Wealthy Affiliate, take a look at my free guide where I go over everything in detail. See my guide here:
