App Trailers Review

Name: App Trailers
Type: Paid-to site
Membership Price: $0

video watching to earn rewards is a site that started back in 2010 by a San Francisco based company called App Redeem, Inc, but has  been owned by since 2015. They pay their members in points for watching their app videos, these points can later be redeemed for either cash via Paypal or various gift cards.

App Trailers only pay you about half a penny for every video you watch, so don’t expect to quit your day job over this. You’re better off joining sites like Swagbucks, Inbox Pays, and Cash Crate that offer more ways to earn and some ways pay higher.

The TRUTH of How App Trailers Works

How To Sign Up To App Trailers

They are app-based, meaning you cannot sign up with a computer/laptop, only a mobile smart phone or a tablet device. You can download their app for free from the App Store or the Google Play Store.

You can sign up for an account with either your email or your social media account information. Once you’ve joined and confirmed your account, you can start watching videos to earn points/money.

Watching Videos

The videos that are available to watch are mainly trailers on new apps and showing you how they work, these are short videos that are about 30 seconds long. There will also be other ads to watch at the beginning of the video as well. Each video you watch earns you 5 points which equals to about $0.005.

Quick Tip: Did you know these top “get-paid-to” sites also let you earn points/cash for watching videos? They also let you earn by doing ordinary internet tasks like reading emails, searching the web, joining websites, playing games, doing offers, and more.

In the promos section of the App Trailers app there are offers you can complete to earn even more points. These offers pay 5-2500 points which equals to about $0.005-$2.50. An offer is basically where you’re paid to do a task, like signing up for a website or trying out a new app.

Referring Others

You can earn 100 points for referring your friends/family to join App Trailers. You’ll be given a unique referral link to post in your social media pages and invite others to join that way. The more friends you have, the more you can earn! Unfortunately this seems to be only a one-time payment, unlike Swagbucks which has a referral program that pays you over and over for life.

How Much Can You Make?

As you probably guessed it, watching videos is a pretty easy gig, and as it is in life the easy jobs that require no skill don’t pay very much. You’re looking at making roughly $0.005 per minute of your time spent watching app videos. If you multiply that by 60 you get $0.30. Which means you’ll be making $0.30/hr doing this, I think even sweatshop workers in China earn more than that.

You can’t earn a full time income from watching videos, but you definitely can by building your own online website business. You can learn how to do that step-by-step in my FREE guide here.

How Do You Get Paid?

Getting your cash is quick and easy, you should get it immediately after redeeming your points. The minimum payout threshold for Paypal is only 500 points, or $0.50 in cash.

You can also get paid via gift cards but the minimum payout threshold is much higher at 5000 points, or $5 in cash. With gift cards you’ll have various choices such as, Starbucks, Google Play, and iTunes.

App Trailers Problems

Very Low Pay

You’ll be making about $0.30/hr and so this is obviously not meant to be used as a serious income source. But it’s a pretty nice bonus if you’re already a video addict and watches random videos all day and night.

If you’re seeking a way to earn enough money online so you can quit your day job, then this isn’t it. Instead why not go check out my #1 Recommended Way of Making Money Online to learn how to make a full time living building websites.

Limited Ways To Earn

One big thing I dislike about App Trailers is that they don’t offer that many ways to earn. You can earn watching videos, doing some offers, and earn a measly 100 points for referring others, but that’s about it.

If you don’t like videos then you may get bored very quickly. Why not check out these other similar extra income sites where there’s more ways to earn? Earn by reading email, testing products, clicking ads, joining websites, shopping, and more.

No Cheating!

You can’t just open up a bunch of videos and leave them playing on auto-pilot while you go make dinner or do other stuff. You’ll be prompted to click the page every so often to make sure you’re still there. With other video sites like Swagbucks the videos will just keep playing on it’s own, they wouldn’t know if you get up and go do other stuff.

Punished For Watching Too Much

App Trailers will also punish you for trying to earn too much, by trying to watch videos all day and night you may be slapped with a penalty where you go from earning 5 points a video to only 3 points a video. This penalty is temporary and will go away in a day or so.

Is App Trailers a Scam?

It appears that App Trailers is legit and not a scam, if you earn points then you’ll get paid. In fact, their low payout threshold of only 500 points ($0.50) shows that they have no intention of holding onto your money for very long. They want you to have your earnings as quickly as possible.

That being said, you won’t get rich doing this but this app can keep you entertained if you’re bored throughout the day. I highly recommend you join sites like Swagbucks, Inbox Pays, and Cash Crate instead, because these sites also let you earn watching videos, but they also have plenty of other earning opportunities as well.

So obviously you won’t be able to live on $0.30/hr watching videos. So is there any way of making a full time income online? The answer is yes. You can create a 5-6 figure passive income stream with a website/blog business, anyone can do this but you must be willing to work hard. You can find out step-by-step on how to do this by reading my FREE guide here.

Hey Kent. Thanks for this review. I agree that websites and apps like these are not something one would want to consider for making at least enough to go out for a dinner night. You are correct that Swagbucks is a better option. But you can see how App Trailers would be inviting for the complete couch potato. I bet it drains your smartphone batteries.

Unfortunately that really low payback for watching video trailers is a big letdown. That in of itself makes it harder to get people to join as your referral. Not a good selling point. And what the heck is this “Penalty” for trying to watch too many videos in a day? They pay very little and still have the nerve to punish their members for trying to earn? That’s not cool!
